Just listened to the new updates for Airbnb on their FB Live and feel discouraged as a Host.
I don't have an emaculately designed modern home with features that "WOW" guests. I have a humble space for budget seeking travelers in a very expensive city (San Francisco).
Is Airbnb weeding people out instead of including everyone?
@Angela608 Airbnb plus is probably design for the big hotels and real estate agents who have been on the network for quite a long time appearing like casual hosts so i guess this will now make them standout.I totally agree with you it is unfair for the genuine home owners.Good luck!!!
I strongly agree with you.
I have been a SUPERHOST for 4 consecutive years in Siem Reap, Angkor Wat-Cambodia.
Thank you.

I said the same thing, then I also thought that most of our guests do not have luxury or plus budgets...so we should be fine..
The market will decide. If they are priced with algorithms that keep Airbnb plus at my rates then I will have to seek other methods of booking. They have the right to create all the niches they can think up. In the end if it does not make capital come in it will be abandoned.
Having luxury finishes does not make you a good host. Find your market and be true to what you do best. For me it is short term and transitional housing for my guest who are working or going to schools at the university. I am developing their platforms to expose my protruding to income potential clients.
Unless is some promotional program I doubt very much if any Airbnb Plus offering will be in the $75-$100 price range; in fact, I took the lower prices they initially showed (some in the $150-$200 range) as a bit misleading, and really for promotional purposes.
que es un airbnb plus y que condiciones debe tenerse para convertirse en plus
Thanks Airbnb, yet more hoops for us long-suffering hosts to jump through. I offer a comfortable, spacious self-contained cabin, with almost 200 5-star reviews and have been superhost for four years, but cannot meet the Airbnb Plus requirements. Apart from anything else, nowhere in our village is there a minimum 5mb download internet speed! When will Airbnb realise that one size does not fit all, that there are a myriad global locations with their own character and quirks. Character and quirks used to be what Airbnb was about! Staying somewhere 'real' not a 5-star hotel. I tell you, they are losing me !
It really seems unfair sometimes doesn’t it.
I just saw the notification to become a Plus host, and read the ridiculous list of upgrades. It really is trying to make one size fit all, as you say. Like, all our spaces must be exactly like a night at a chain motel. No surprises. They even mention things that not all guest like or need - how do they decide these items make it a "plus?" Like, an extra fitted sheet over the box spring? I don't have that kind of bed but, what the hell is that? They are way too specific. Of course I'm not going to give guests my Netflix login - one assumes they have their own Netflix account. Ridiculous.
I’m not sure what to make of this new Plus situation. My thinking is that they’re trying to compete for Luxury Clients. Clearly not all travelers have Luxury budget, but how many categories or sub categories will we be now pigeon holed into?
Plus seems a tick box situation, nothing to do with quality.
Hi, is there someone who knows how to enter the Airbnb Plus program?
I'm Superhost in a very turist place (Polignano a Mare), offering a premium accommodation at fair prices.
May I be eligible for Airbnb Plus?
What should I do?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Vito
@Vito2 before any host can enter the Airbnb Plus program, first Airbnb must choose your city to be included in the Airbnb Plus program.
The Airbnb Plus program is only in a very few cities right now:
Austin, Barcelona, Cape Town, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Melbourne, Milan, Rome, San Francisco, Shanghai, Sydney, Toronto
And coming to a few more:
Athens, Auckland, Bali, Beijing, Chengdu, Crete, Lisbon, Mexico City, Montreal, Phoenix, Prague, Riviera Maya, Seattle
You can read more about it here:
https://www.airbnb.com/plus/host
Before you do so, take some time to read all of the complaints about it first - about the quality of the photos, not being able to use your own photos, or choose which one is the featured photo, not being able to keep your property/listing name - and most alarmingly - losing your entire description and having it replaced with a 2 or 6-line listing!
I also just read one community member who was denied due to no AC...
At very least, don't pay for it... and save copies of your listing so you can reconstruct it if you decide you hate Plus!

I know Airbnb Plus has been an active discussion point here in the CC and there have been many questions around the program. I have been gathering these up and the team have provided some responses. I thought you might be interested to read this, if so click here to view.
I hope you find this useful.
Thanks,
Lizzie

None of this is any help to me. My problem is the cancellation policy. Strict Cancellation means that the guest can cancel 1 week prior to arrival and get a 50% refund. For Caribbean islands, this does not work. Guests come from the US, Canada, UK, Europe. If a guest cancels 1 week prior to arrival, that means that it is very unlikely that we would get a replacement booking in such a short period of time. We have a very short high season and it is within that season that we make the most of our profit. If a guest books in the high season, and cancels 1 week prior to arrival, we almost definitely lose money.
