I just submitted this feedback to Airbnb but thought I’d post it here for comments.
Superhost status should be awarded to primary contacts rather than owners.
I have been a Superhost for years as an owner for two rooms in my home, as well as Co-host and primary contact for up to 22 listings at a time. I earned Superhost status for the owners of all 22 listings, even though the owners had zero interaction with the guests or the listings. The owners don’t even know what Superhost is or what the requirements are to get it.
My issue is that I stopped hosting in my own shared home for a year during the pandemic – so I lost my Superhost status. Meanwhile I have been managing 2-4 other listings as the primary contact, and have maintained Superhost status for all of them.
So again, I obviously know what it takes to be a Superhost, but Airbnb has removed my Superhost status and awarded it to listing owners who not only haven’t done anything to earn it but who don’t even know what it is.
For Superhost status to have meaning and value, it should be awarded to primary contacts who manage the listing and deal with guests directly.
Thoughts?
