Hi, I placed a booking with Marianella Guest House for 8 people for a 9 night holiday in December 2020 They accepted, debited my credit card (R18545.85) and then came back stating the following: "Hi Chalice, Unfortunately I see the quote did not apply our peak season rates, anyway we will adjust the price but with a large discount off the normal peak season rate for you. I will be debiting your credit card with another +/- R 17000.00.
I had this exact problem 2 years ago whereby the then accomodation also wanted to charge us additional for rates not changed. Please could you again assist with this matter as you did then.
Much appreciated

Hi @Chalice1
This is not airbnb customer service, this is a community board where guests and hosts come together to ask questions and problem solve.
YOu would need to contact cusotmer service directly about this.
I can tell you however, it is very much against airbnb protocol for a host to increase the price AFTER a booking has been made. It's the hosts responsibility to ensure that they keep their calendar adn pricing up to date
Good luck!
Regards
The host cannot ask you for additional money because they did not keep their pricing up to date. @Chalice1
Call Airbnb and ask them to speak to the host to confirm this.
Of course there is a risk that the host might cancel, but then they would be penalised by Airbnb.
