Cleaning vs stars

Hello!

I have a question about how you hosts rate the cleaning of a guest. If a guest does not clean up after themselves, even though it is clearly stated in the advertisement that the cottage must be left in the condition it was in on arrival, all cleaning is on the guest. How do you put the stars on the cleaning then? 1 star or more?

@Mattias29   I don't understand your rule: "Self-home where the cottage is left in the condition it is on arrival. Cleaning is the responsibility of the tenant."

Does this mean you expect your guests to wash all the towels and linens, sanitize all surfaces, clean floors, remake the beds, and prepare the cottage for the next guests exactly as it was prepared for them? Because if that's not what you mean, you should be much more specific about which cleaning tasks you require guests to complete before the 11 AM checkout on their departure date.

And if it is what you mean, I'm a bit disturbed, because it sounds like the next incoming guests are always at the mercy of the previous guest's cleaning skills, which might be sorely lacking.

@Anonymous I think we misunderstand each other. I run with Google translate and it will not be good 🤔.

Agree with @Anonymous . Even the most conscientious of guests NEVER leave the listing as clean and presentable as a host does (or should do). While I expect my guests to clean up after themselves to a certain extent, I would never rely on them to leave the listing in the same condition they found it in, nor would I think it fair to ask them to do that.

I trust that you don't mean this literally though and you are actually going in and cleaning in between guests though and that this wording is intended to get them to leave it as clean as possible?
