Can somebody advise if you have a cancellation at this time which you suspect is because of Covid19 (the cancellation came through the customer service centre) will our superhost status be effected?
@Sharon-and-Made0 Your superhost status is never affected by a guest cancellation, only a cancellation initiated by the host.
There's just one thing to be aware of- if you ever get a message saying the guest wants to cancel (is this what you meant by it coming through the customer service center?), asking you to either accept or decline the cancellation, always decline it. If you accept it, it goes down as a host cancellation and you will be subject to all the normal host-cancellation penalties. If you decline it, then the guest will then just have to cancel on their own, so it won't affect your stats or anything.
Some savvy guests will send one of those requests, because they know if the host accepts it, it is registered as a host cancellation and they'll get a full refund. Whereas if they cancelthemselves, they'll be subject to a refund based on the cancellation policy you have. Or sometimes it's just a clueless guest who doesn't understand how to cancel themselves.
This information might be useful to you. However, I would like Airbnb to clarify if Superhost status is affected by declining full refunds that DO NOT fall under the COVID-19 Extenuating Circumstances policy. It may just be me, but it seems like they are being deliberately vague about this, which is troubling...
