My recent guest would arrive at 9 pm (had postponed his time of arrival already a few times that day).
Around 9:30 pm i watched my (mostly) empty street and noticed a guy tumbling in the thicket and climbing out it again. Then staring at his smartphone as if he had never seen such a device. Yes, it was my guest and he was drunk.
So i told him presenting yourself this way to a host is not a good start, especially when your Airbnb account is new !
So what to do ?
I let him in and talked some more to get an impression of his situation/condition. At the end i decided to show him his room.
But assured him: if any nuisance he would be kicked out instantly.
After he left (3 nights), the room showed rather normal, but he seemed not to have used any facilities like shower, kitchen etc.
But the amount of empty cans of beer in the room was overwhelming !
@Emiel1 I had a guest who kept to himself more than any of my other home-share guests. He went out to the beach every day, ate out,and only used the kitchen to fill his water bottle with drinking water and put a couple of beers in the fridge. When he was home, he stayed up in his room. I think we had one 5 minute conversation the entire week he was here.
I never saw him drunk and he was really quiet, but when he left, the number of empty hard liquor bottles in his room was astounding.
we had a drunken guest once, First, we had to pick him up from the cafe 3 blocks away where he sat on a beer while we were waiting to check him in. We needed close to an hour to finally escort him from the cafe to the apartment. Then he called us at 2 AM when he couldn't open the door (wrong building), then the second night he called us because he forgot the address 😄
He was really friendly and funny and we were new hosts so no hard feelings, but now I would probably strangle him before check-in 😄
Last summer we had a family of 4, 2 adults 2 kids. She was ok, but a neat freak. The kids were unruly and tresspassed on 2 neighbours in the first 10 minutes of arrival, running, yelling, screaming and throwing gravel on my spouses new vintage pickup. Husband admitted almost immediately upon arrival that he was stoned.
Next day Mother Nature kicked in with a wicked Thunderstorm and nearby lightening strike so loud, they couldn't hear for an hour, so they claimed (neighbor confirmed this).
HMM, has to make you wonder.
Nice😒
