False advertising? Let the people decide ๐Ÿ™‚

I use Airbnb for work.  10-15 times a year. I have been fortune enough to have not encountered any bad Hosts. Couple of misinformation  or me not paying attention 100%. But I will take responsibility for these.

What I do not understand is why not just come out and be honest about cost. I've noticed where lately, if I book a Airbnb it cost double the original cost it says on description. I understand taxes! But lately there's a cleaning fee and a service fee. With all of these surcharges totaled. They equal out to more than the room itself!     like ๐Ÿ˜’!!  I'm ok y'all. I just don't like the shady approach taken as a mean to and end. Honesty, has been and will always be the best path.

Please just tell me upfront what the price is so I can decide Yes/No.  As of now . If I say yes. It sends me to payment options where it is there I see the Truth! I can afford these.fortunately. But it leaves me with a dirty feeling.

@Sean1135

When you book a room, all the costs are displayed and specified before you sent the booking request, based on the dates you selected.:

The renting price, Cleaning fee, Airbnb Guest Service fee and local taxes

The renting price and cleaning fee are set by the host, The Airbnb Guest Service Fee is calculated by Airbnb, the taxes are calculated according regulations.

But it is all there, totalized and brought to your attention before you decide to book.

@Emiel1 What you say is correct in Europe but I am not sure it is the case in the rest of the world. @Sean1135 may be able to confirm?

I think what @Sean1135  means to say is that when he first looks for an accommodation, the price displayed on the landing page is just the nightly (base) rate; he doesn't see the complete total including cleaning, taxes and service fees until he clicks through to book.

@Sean1135,

It is the way that Airbnb chooses to display totals in search results (and is common on other travel platforms, also).  The nightly price includes the rate, cleaning fee and service fee, but does not include the taxes, and there is a small link to see price breakdown.

Click the link for the price breakdown, and it doesn't include the tax (maybe Airbnb only shows the amounts they and the host will keep).

The listing page will display the base nightly rate and any discounts, and the fee and tax details.  The difference between the search results total and the listing page total is the amount of tax.
