I am new to hosting, and so am researching everything. In trying to understand the tax requirements for hosts, I started a new reservation for my property. The FL sales tax is 6%, and the Discretionary tax for my county is 1.5%. This means that Airbnb should be collecting a tax of 7.5% of the room and cleaning charge on my rental.
if you look at the attached screenshot, Airbnb is charging a 15% tax - doubling the correct amount.
Ive called Airbnb about it, and have been given the run around. They tell me to contact the State of Florida - who just confirms that the rate should be 7.5%.
It is unacceptable to me to be overcharging guests for sales tax. Can anyone offer advice on how to get this resolved?
