October has rushed by and my favourite time of the year, Halloween, is almost upon us!

Like the (very scary) film says… “I want to play a game”.  

The rules are very simple:

I’m going to share Halloween-adjacent traditions from around the world, and you can tell me where they originate from.

@Dale711 do you or have your family participated in All Saints day "ornissanti". More learning for me, I have read that this day is also centered around food and family and one custom is to leave an empty space at the table with water and wine forthe souls of their loved ones soul to enjoy. It also said that people share gifts and in some countries children go door to door to receive treats like cake anddried fruits in exchange for a prayer for the dead. This is sounding like some countries where children  participate with trick or treating today and the real meaning is being lost on commercialism.

@Jenny  I will add another one where are our other hosts out there who could be adding other no from the game.

No 20 Jum il mejtin is All Souls Day in Malta where they commemorate the faithful departed through prayers and giving money and food to the poor. Through prayer they commemorate the poor souls in purgatory and gain them indulgence  a way to reduce their punishment. Relatives go and visit their loved ones in cemeteries taking flowers, candles and photos to decorate them. Sweet pastries are made and sold  in the shape of a bone with icing on top during Jum il mejtin   (information from the internet).
