Guest stole $6000 worth of clothes and home goods

Title says it all. Police report filed. Reported to Airbnb. Guest refuses to pick up the phone or reply to text messages. This is felony grand theft. I’ve contacted local news as the guest is a failed destitute actress/Instagram influencer type, **, real name **, who’s actually posted photos WEARING MY CLOTHES. She also put a hole in my wall. I will not suck up the loss. Please reply if you were able to get Airbnb or your insurance to reimburse. Please also reply if the thief who stole from you was persecuted. Be warned, LA AIRBNB of this criminal.

@Sinta2 The above link shows how your local police should be able to get hold of the guests details

Also have you/did you file a claim with Airbnb before the next guest checked in?

I am sorry to hear this has happened. @Sinta2

As you say the guest is prominent on social media hopefully the police will be able to track her down and prosecute.

As well as putting in a claim on Airbnb I would also contact your specialist insurance for STRs to make a claim.

I am sure you have learnt the sad but very real lesson that it’s never a good idea to leave expensive items in your home if letting out to guests.

@Sinta2 I hope you're able to get your clothes back, but unfortunately on Airbnb is far harder to get a successful claim for theft than it is for physical damage.

Read carefully here: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/361/

If you still have the original receipts for the stolen items, you've got a shot at getting a small portion of their value back (the adjustment is usually based on their depreciated value as used items rather than the original price).

If it's still possible to edit, you'll have to remove the name of the guest from your post; even when the guest is a criminal, it's still not allowed to put their personal information in this forum.
