My act was hacked, I suddenly had 26 extra listings all over the world! The listings were really glamorous and very cheap so I was getting nonstop inquiries and even bookings, like every 60 seconds I immediately changed my password, then I contacted Airbnb, they said don’t respond to anyone and we’ll get back to you, Nothing….. no phone call, no email, nothing!!!! I finally got a standard email “We noticed some strange activity please change your password “. I have over 300 inquiries and guest messages even started getting phone calls from the guests because they were buying plane tickets to their fake vacation and concerned they hadn’t had any reply from the host! I have called Airbnb 7 times in 3 days and BEGGED them to let me speak to someone in IT or security and they refused, all they do is take down all the information and “Escalate the case”. This is insane!!!!! I have been a host for 2 years and have 4 listings and can NOT get a person to fix this or even talk to me at the company????? Last
night I deleted all the fake listings myself, this company has the absolute worst customer service regarding system issues for hosts!!!! Has anyone else been hacked??
We had same story yestreday in Alicante , Spain , Costa Blanca . Still waiting when they help us to resolve our problem . In our account we had more than 20 fake listings in all Spain , I recieved new bookings non stop . but one thing that someone canceled 1 booking from my page directly and now I have to pay for that cancelation 92.16 eu . and I have more confirmed booking of fake apartments . That was the goal ... to rob money this way . Whe the host cancel the reservations the steal your money
I have been hacked too. I called Airbnb 3 times yesterday when we started getting constant enquiries about apartments in Kensington and Hyde Park at very cheap prices - I live in Perth, Scotland and would struggle to pay for a holiday in Kensingston, far less own an apartment. Some one had set me up as a 'Team' I didn't even know these things exist. When I called airbnb first time the guy asked how many listings I had - I said one active and one inactive. He told me I had 14! He said it made no sense because all the money from the fake listings would come to my bank account! He said what scammer would give away their funds instead of stealing. He said I should change my password and delete the team and he would report the details. When I came off the call I checked and I had photos of amazing place in London, Brighton, Manchester - all over England! People started booking. After a couple of hours I called again and said that one person had booked for today. I was told not to reply to the messages and airbnb would deal with the matter and find the guests other accommodation. We went out for a meal and came home to find someone had booked in that night. At 10pm he called us asking to confirm when he could check in - I told him the story. He was not happy and worried as he'd paid almost £2k. I recommended he cancel. He messaged asking if I could but when I went on it said it had already been cancelled by me?? I still had heard nothing from airbnb and decided that I might get on better calling US head office. I did that and got another agent who, yet again, was of no help. I told him people were calling me on the phone and another contacted us on whatsapp - he said there were procedures to go through and sorry but there was nothing he could do. Before I went to bed I found the phone number of a girl who thought she was going to be arriving today. I sent her a text message saying - please I think this is a scam, I would cancel. It was quite a long message but I don't think she understood because her final comment was, if you do manage to sort out your account, I would really like to stay at your place! When I went back on airbnb again it said it was cancelled by host. There is someone else coming tomorrow and still not a word from airbnb. My response rate is going to plummet as I've now exceeded the response time for dozens of enquiries - as instructed by Airbnb
@Jennifer3329 “Teams” is a known vulnerability that it would appear Airbnb has not taken seriously, as this has been an ongoing issue. If you’ve deleted the Teams and changed your password, you may be alright now. Contact airbnbhelp on Twitter to try to resolve this further, to restore your good standing.
Change your password REGULARLY, make it a difficult one, and examine your account activity and settings daily. This platform is the worst for security issues, which makes it a target and goldmine for hackers and scammers.
Yep! Same here!!!! These people are NO help and I have never been a “Team”. I have deleted the 29 listings 3 times and they come back! And yea, If someone books the fake listings the $$ would go to my act so Airbnb says “It doesn’t make sense “. I have been on the phone with them for HOURS and no one helps me!!!! I think its Internal on their end because I have changed my password every day and its still happening!!!! Also crazy expensive listings 9 room houses with pool for $200 a night so of course people are thinking they have scored some great deal! Its absolutely Insane that no one will help us!
@Jennifer3329 Have you actually checked to see if it’s through ‘Teams’ that you have this issue? Read this post,
Im not on a Team???? What is that?? It’s just me & my 4 little beach condos, no one with me or on my act
I just got hacked and keep getting the run around on the phone. do you have an email where I can reach someone to help me!!!!
I have literally BEGGED for a supervisor, they refuse! They keep saying this is the process, but they’re full of it because there is NO way the process is to leave 30 fake listings on my act getting inquiries from Their potential clients!!!!
@Jennifer3329 Try airbnbhelp on Twitter. CS rarely know what they’re taking about.
I think we just got hacked as well. Someone changed all of our settings! We never host for more than 29 days due to fear of scam squatters and yet our long term setting was changed. We contacted airbnb and they said they don’t see any security breach…
@Don-And-Emily0 I’ve experienced spontaneous settings changes often enough (some proven bugs) that I check my settings daily, and also my account activity once in a while. I also change my password regularly, as this platform is not secure in any way shape or form.
I finally talked to someone named Christine, she seemed to listen to me, she gave me a case number and told me she was going to call me back the next day. She never did. She also said she would get tech to delete the 300+ unanswered inquiries so my response rate would go back to 100%, since it dropped to 17% with all the fake inquiries, that still hasn’t happened. AND I JUST got an email 5 minutes ago saying my 34 listings have been published!!!!!! So they’re all back again!!!!!! I called for the 9Th time, got someone that had nothing to do with actually servicing our accounts again, and opened a 9th Case!!!!! This is INSANE!!!!! And there is no one to “Escalate “ it to……allegedly.
@Jennifer3329 I'm so sorry to hear about this, I can imagine that must be driving you crazy!
It's been a couple of days now, have you received an answer from CS in the meantime?
