Host and guest agree to change dates - how to do so without penalties.

I'm currently staying at a place, sharing a flat with the host, on a long term basis. We arrived 2 months ago, and were due to stay until end of April. However, following the recent outbreak, we need to change our plan asap : my host has lung issue since birth, and I'm working with at risk population. We BOTH agree that we need to shorten the stay as soon as possible : However I cannot afford loosing 30 days when changing my date (the standard long term condition). We both want to close the contract with no reason for any penalties. How can we do it? I've sent 4 mails, two chats, one phone call to Airbnb (wainting 45min with no answers) and I'm still waiting on any help on their part!

Any idea?

Thanks

@Thomas2035 you probably won't get any response or way to talk to anyone in customer service with the covid19 crisis but this is what I think you can do to remediate your situation. Your host should be able to go onto the platform and alter the reservation. By The Host altering the reservation and changing the dates you should not have any extra monies due. If he has a problem doing it tell him to edit his cancellation policy refresh his computer and after a few minutes try to then alter the reservation. They may want to try to alter the reservation both on a computer and on a phone app to see which is easiest.. I would be interested to know if you have success so I will follow this thread. Good luck.

@Thomas2035  Either of you can open the reservation from your itinerary and submit a Change Request that alters the checkout date. It's better if your host initiates this, so that he can also override the default pricing settings. But there's absolutely no need to involve the already overwhelmed customer service at Airbnb with this, as it's a relatively easy fix.
