Hydro outages

Huge storm in southern Ontario has left many places without hydro. I informed guest of the power outage and they choose to stay the night. Now they are asking for half there money back. What should I do?

Hi there @Melissa1248, I hope you're safe and well. How did this go in the end?

The guests were given a partial refund

Who gave it them you or airbnb?

If you dont mind me asking how much of a refund did you give them?

@Melissa1248   may I ask, how much was the partial refund, and who determined the amount?

thanks for sharing, my takeaway:  offer a small refund up front, AND make them agree in writing they will not ask for a refund afterwards if they choose to stay.

on the bright side, you saved yourself @ $5 in energy costs. ha. with  many govts rolling out green policies resulting in unstable energy supply, this is probably going to be a more common complaint. Our state had a big blackout last week and 50 schools were closed and it took them 3 days to restore power, luckily I am out in the country so this didn't effect me, just the city people.
