Everything is closed, except essential shops.

Yes, Canada is telling Canadians not to travel for any non-essential reasons (lots of US hosts in warm areas depend on Canadian snowbird bookings in the winter, so that will dry up) and has gone back to restrictions on gatherings that were lifted. 10 max for private households in British Columbia, which will throw a lot of people's holiday plans into disarray.

@Emiel1, I just read about this in the Guardian. This pandemic is really not getting any better is it? It's why I haven't yet reopened my Airbnb and, to be honest, I can't see myself doing it any time soon. My whole state has been locked off from the rest of the world for nearly two years now, meaning we have lived our lives almost completely Covid free. However, our borders are opening on 5 February - many Western Australians (including me) would be happy if they just stayed closed. We have no idea of what's about to hit us...  Anyway, despite the lockdown, I hope you can still have a beautiful Christmas with friends and family.
