Way to go Airbnb. You really know how to push someone over the edge.

hello @David-and-Fiona0  in the Philippines.

ABB said at the start of Coronavirus they  were not going to penalise Hosts.

Suggest you look for related posts here in CC for moral & other support.

@Lizzie @Quincy @Catherine-Powell this is something  needs to be addressed that you may be able to help with, and raise an awareness with HO.

If it impacts adversely with SuperHosts it's likely to be the same system of failure for us other folk.

Thanks

Here are the criteria for the October and January assessments.

https://www.airbnb.com/resources/hosting-homes/a/updates-to-the-october-and-january-superhost-assess...

Highlights
  • Current Superhosts will keep their status through the next two assessments—October 2020 and January 2021—if they uphold criteria for response rate and overall rating

  • Only hosts who meet all four Superhost criteria will be eligible for the $100 USD Superhost travel or Airbnb Experiences bonus

Criteria:  90% Response Rate, 4.8 overall assessment for past 365 days of the assessment period.

Thank you and I am aware of this. My point is I had an overall rating of 4.8 in March this year with 100% response rate etc etc. Since then because of covid we have had NO bookings but still had a 100% response rate. The following image shows that within a period of four hours I went from getting Superhost to not getting Superhost. My point is the algorithms are wrong and as usual hosts suffer. 3F3DAA26-504C-431D-BB4D-3C0B24EA3723.png

@David-and-Fiona0 In March you could easily have had a 4.8 rating. This will have been based on ratings from the previous 12 months. Now its October the rating will be ignoring the ratings from March thru September 2019 so you have dropped to a 4.6 rating. It is clear that more low ratings remain and more high ratings have fallen off. This suggests recent guests have given lower ratings than previous guests.....

@David-and-Fiona0   I don't pretend to be an expert on how the ratings are calculated, but it seems as if the 4.6 overall rating was the issue, and it took some time to get the screen updated.  Maybe some text carried over from the previous assessment ?

I've had it happen in the past that the screen showed me 4.8, all other measurements being good, but I didn't qualify because I was told that "in the background" it was only 4.78 (two decimals) while the screen shows only one decimal.

I've been out of status for more than a year, due to a couple of 3's, and just came back in on this last assessment. All one can do is work through it to the next assessment.

It might be small consolation, but, in my experience, most guests book based on reviews, not superhost status.

If you want to try and check the calculation, here's one way.

Let's say you had 20 reviews in the review period (1 year).  You may have had more bookings, but maybe not everyone left a review.

If you got 5 stars for all 20, that would be an overall score of 20 x 5 = 100.

If you got 18 x 5's and 2 x 3's, that would be an overall score of  96 out of a possible 100.

So, your overall rating would be 96/100/2 = 4.8.
