My turn to bid farewell

Our last booking is in two weeks. Time to take the next step with the property. STR was a stop gap and never a long term plan. Grateful to Airbnb for providing the opportunity we needed at the time. Happy to have been a part of this fabulous community of smart, savvy and giving hosts (and caring, capable mods). Always a small chance I may be back hosting at some point, so I’ll not say goodbye, just so long for now! Wishing the best to all.

Awww, I hope whatever you have in mind is a great success.  I'm not on here like I used to be, but you always had the best advice.  Like everyone else said, you will be sorely missed.  Have a wonderful summer.!

@Wende2 I've noticed you've been MIA lately. Hope you are busy and doing well! Thank you for the kind words! Wishing you all the best 🙂

@Colleen253....It's me myself and I taking care of this place.  2 acres is a lot to keep up with, all year long.  Best wishes for your new adventure.!

@Wende2 I hear you! That’s a lot for sure. Well done! Stay well, and don’t get burnt out!

All the best @Colleen253! I've enjoyed reading your posts here and hope you won't completely disappear 🙂

@Emilia42 Thank you! Likewise, I’ve enjoyed your posts, and in fact I always pay close attention to what you have to say on a topic. Best to you! 😊

@Colleen253  It looks like you’re not alone in bidding your farewells. We too will be doing so in May.  Our son and his girlfriend found out they are expecting and decided they wanted to be near their families. (They currently live is Texas and we are in Kansas.) Girlfriend has not been able to work much due to the pregnancy complicating some health issues. So to help them get back on there feet they will be moving in with us and temporarily taking over our 2 Airbnb rooms. As of right now, we anticipate them staying with us through the end of the year. However, that is subject to change and could end up being a little longer.

We have thoroughly enjoyed opening up our home to guests and look forward to doing it again in the future whether it be with Airbnb or another platform. My husband and I both work in the medical field and had been considering switching gears to host traveling medical professionals on a different platform that is more suited for longer stays and caters to those in the medical field that travel for work. As we all know and has been discussed extensively in the CC, Airbnb is not the platform to use for stays over 28 days so we shall see what the future holds for us in regards to hosting. But for now, we are looking forward to the opportunity of having our son and his girlfriend closer so we do not have to be grandparents from afar. This will be our first, so it’s a whole new adventure for us. Blessing to you and whatever your next adventure is.

@Michelle1164. Congratulations on the happy news and best wishes to you and your family! It’s so good that you have that space for them and that you can be together during this time 😊

@Colleen253 Yes it is nice we have the space and glad to be able to help them out. My husband and I were in the same boat about 20 years ago when our house sold within days of being on the market and we needed a place to stay while my husband was working on building our new home.  I was several months pregnant with a 4 year old in toe and we moved in with my parents for almost 10 months.  It takes a village to raise kiddos.

Well, that’s it for me. Last guest gone, last review written, final turnover completed.

Feels so strange. We’ve only been at this just under 3 years but it feels like a lifetime.

Cheers, all!

@Colleen253

We are going to miss you, almost have a tear as I write this, you are more like a friend than an internet acquaintance. Thanks for your great contributions over the past few years, you have put a different perspective on many of my preconceptions as I am sure have on many others here.

Good luck in what ever you moving on to Colleen, and remember, if you ever find yourself down in this part of the world our door will always be open to you.....All the best.

Cheers........Rob

Awww, thanks so much for the kind words @Robin4! I could actually same the exact same thing about you, as a matter of fact!

I do hope I can one day make it down your way, and would absolutely look you up. All the best to you!!
