Hello everyone,
A warm welcome to the Community Center.
This discussion is for introducing yourself to your fellow Airbnb Community members, as well as welcoming and saying hello to newcomers in return. Thanks to all of you who have already introduced yourself and contributed in our previous thread, here.
I'm Lizzie and I am the Community Manager here, along with my teammate @Quincy. I have been managing the Airbnb Community Center since it officially opened in November 2015. It is fantastic to speak with amazing community members here.
To kickstart this topic, I would like to share a few things about myself:
How about you? Any interesting facts or hobbies?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Lizzie

Good Day Everyone!
We are really enjoying being Super Hosts with AIRBNB! The people we have dealt with at the corporate office has ALL been so professional and courteous whenever we have had an issue or questions. We cannot say enough what a wonderful system AIRBNB has put in place on every level!
We look forward to a long and mutually profitable relationship. We live in Des Moines, Iowa and are Grandparents of six, three on each coast so we travel extensively and have love staying with people through AIRBNB for many years! We became Super Hosts this year and are blessed to have had so many great guests stay with us!

Hello Lizzy and Quincy, my husband and I are brand new to Airbnb hosting. We published our home 1 week ago today and have already hosted 5 stays and 12 future bookings. Our proximity to the Vancouver international airport has made our suite quite popular for overnight layovers, which means guests just need a comfy bed to sleep in. Airbnb has surpassed our expectations, we love it! Looking forward to being a part of this community!

Hello everybody, I’m Ruth & I live in a 4 storey townhouse built in 1843 in Southend-on-Sea, the nearest coastline to London. I’m retired after working in advertising (mostly at Saatchi’s) for 40 years. I let out 3 rooms on one floor as a Theatre Digs for the people performing in the two theatres here. Mostly one week stays before they tour to the next venue. When there’s no show in town, I open the house to non theatre folk & have hosted many guests from many countries over the past 5 years. I only planned to do this until my pension kicked in, but it’s such fun that I’ve carried on. The only problem is I get so booked up in advance I find it difficult to find space in the calendar to block out for my own travels - a good problem to have!
@Lizzie and Quincey,
thanks for your info as its important to know alittle about each other - we are a Community! And I think that everyone appreciates you both even if you are told that very often. It isn't easy moderating all this crazy Airbnb with folks from everywhere.
I'm thrilled to be a super host now with Airbnb since June 2017 - in wonderful Pensacola, Fl. Having traveled the world touring as a professional dancer with companies out of NY and Boston, I lived in Germany almost 8 yrs. and speak German. I returned back to my birthplace, home 20 yrs ago and now retired my massage therapy practice and the spa building/cottage that I used 15 yrs. is our Airbnb rental. Our Airbnb team is far away in Miami and they asked me to be the leader in our city and that's fun, work, and sometimes very challenging - I don't work for Airbnb, I'm a volunteer - over acheiver, organizer. Airbnb set up a FB hosts club for Pensacola which I moderate. With the hope to draw our hosts together and mentor those that ask for assistance, and also, inform hosts that we need NOT be in a price war with each other. That's just one of the topics needing work.
I can't imagine how I would have managed so far without the CC community center - my lifeline with all the smarts of so many to give different angles and ideas that I would not see for myself. I am grateful for certain.
For the new folks on CC if you click on the picture of the person you'll be able to see their listing or send a message....so I am not putting my link as I trust we are all learning the ropes. Happy Hosting and many blessings Folks, Clara
Aww this is really lovely @Clara116, thanks so much for sharing. It is nice to hear from you here in the intro topic. 🙂
Your life so far has been incredible, I didn't realise you were a professional dancer. What kind of dance did you specialise in?
It's a complete joy to have you part of our community and it is amazing to hear you get so much out of it as well.
Thanks again.
Lizzie

@Lizzie Hi and thanks for your nice comments. Yes Lizzie my life has been incredibly wonderful and packed with adventures, exploration and much action. Naturally, you have to study most all dance forms to have a background and base like ballet, modern, jazz, tap but my great love was and is Rhythm Jazz Tap. Everybody wants to tap dance - I call it the happy dance. Think Shirley Temple with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson - Fred Astair - and the best Eleanor Powerll (Fred's equal). If you ever saw the 2 black tapdancers that jumped and danced from the high hollywood staircases - the Nicholas Brothers, Honi Coles, Brenda Bufalino, Gregory Hines, that's the crowd I was delighted to travel and hang with for many years. They all were great teachers and taught me much about dance and more about life.
I toured with 2 companies doing Rhythm Tap combined with Jazz dance - one of those groups had several smaller groups like the Hoofers and Savion Glover (The Tapdance Kid) and our group N.Y.C. Tapworks and I got my start with Leon Collins - for many years I was protege and partner with Leon Collins and 3 of us with Leon set up a dance school in Boston and we toured and taught until his death in 1985 - after that I continued to teach (Leon's gig) at Harvard each summer and touring in Germany and then moved there for many years forming my own show with dancers and some of the best jazz musicians around. Leon Collins was one of the greats in jazz/ tap dance so I was around some of the heavyweights on the scene, even had the pleasure of performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival where Dizzy Gillespie danced alongside us.
As a dancer I went by the name "CB" Clara Hetherington.....I've had a few different names in life along with my many fabulous adventures!!! lovely, lovely indeed..............greetings, CB (Clara)
Hello everyone,

My name is Raymond and I am a crime reporter and have been doing Airbnb for about a month and loving it.
I have an apartment in Malta and just finished revamping the Garage in my garden into an Airbnb and it’s a huge success. It is themed on the Cambridge News!
This is the start of my Airbnb empire 😂
Hi Airbnb friends,
I’m Gayle & my husband Gary & I have two condos in Gimli, Manitoba, Canada which we list on Airbnb. After vacationing in Gimli for many years we decided to buy one than two condos on the beautiful shores of Lake Winnipeg in 2015/2016 & in the center of town... location, location! I’ve been a Superhost for over a year & it is my passion. I took Hotel Management at Ayr Tech in Scotland many years ago - now that I’m retired from my government job this is my hobby. Because we live in Ontario, many miles away, our in-laws look after the housekeeping etc.. It really is a family affair!
Hi everyone,
My name is Mark. I had only used AirBnB once as a guest until I got laid off and found myself scrambling to pay my bills. While it wasn't been a full supplement, it definetly keep me going between temp and side jobs. Being a host and sharing my 2nd master suite has been intersting.
So I'm in Atlanta. I love to garden, watch Sci-Fi/Superhero movies, work out and spend time with friends. I'm looking forward to doing more traveling in the coming months and will using Airbnb as often as possible.
Hi all,
I'm Chris from Houston, Texas. I'm originally from Canada and lived many years in California - Los Gatos & Los Angeles. I love historical homes, skiing, traveling and my Standard Poodle, Miss Margo. I've been AirBnB'g a 1 bdrm cottage here in Houston; it's from 1881 and is listed in the National Registry of Historical Homes. I also host a garage apartment in Houston's Heights area which is a great walking neighborhood with many independent restaurants. Some of my guests are cancer patients attending Houston's MD Anderson Cancer Hospital so hosting provides a lot of meanig for me.
Am hoping to become a published writer this year. I've taken a sabbatical, am working on a non-fiction book and will then transition to screenwriting. Wish me luck!
Warmly,
Chris

My name is Ethan and I’m a few weeks in the AirBnB world as a host, and so far so good. I enjoy traveling when I can. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, working at the psychiatric hospital in town. I love helping others and being a host just allows me to do that a bit further on a personal basis. Best wishes everyone on your growth!!
