New to the Community Center? Introduce yourself here ‌👇

Hello everyone! 😊

Welcome to the Community Center! 👋  I'm @Bhumika , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca  and @Elisa  and we are thrilled to have you join us.

Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:

@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I have been on the Community Center for 6+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling🚲, playing football, and travelling🌏 . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.

@Bhumika 🌍 I was born in Gujarat, India 🇮🇳 , and shifted to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 last year! 📷 I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. 🌆 When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.

@Paula : I am from Colombia 🇨🇴 and currently living in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance 💃) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries 🌎 and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking 🚲 and hiking 🏔.

@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist 🌿 and like to minimise my impact on the planet 🌎 as well as volunteering in my local community.  I love sea swimming 🌊 yoga on the beach 🧘‍ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! 🙌

@Elisa : I was born in Italy 🇮🇹 and as a lover of unique experiences—from exploring the streets of Rome🇮🇹 , Paris 🇫🇷, and Toronto 🇨🇦 to appreciating timeless art and cuisine—I'm here to blend the old with the new.

Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Warm regards,

Bhumika

Hi @Brett-And-Megan0, Welcome to the community! 😊

It’s awesome to hear that you’ve just launched your second Airbnb—congratulations! 🎉 What have been some of your biggest learnings or surprises since you started hosting?

Since you've just listed your second property, I would recommend that you ask the Community for a listing critique as it could be very helpful receiving feedback from fellow Hosts. Read more on how to ask listing critique by clicking here👈

Hi everyone! I am from southern California. Now I am hosting three rental properties, one in Mission Viejo, one in Laguna Hills, and one in Upland. I have multiple listings for each property, making the total listings over 80! My biggest frustration is Airbnb's discrimination against us hosts. When a guest reports something to Airbnb, Airbnb now does not even give a chance to allow me to voice my side of the story before reaching their decision in the guest's favor. This does not happen to me once. It happens so many times that it has become a pattern in which Airbnb would rather kiss the guests' butt without any concern of hosts' benefits. Let me give you the most recent example. A guest from South Korea sent pictures to Airbnb claiming my place is dirty and does not match the photos of my listing. His original reservation is one month. He wanted to check out in five days. Without hearing my side of the story at all, Airbnb simply granted his request and processed the refund of the rest 25 nights. I called the customer service and sent numerous messages requesting an opportunity to voice my side of the story. Every time someone in the Resolution department would told me he or she would call me, but after about two weeks, I still do not receive any call back from that department. My only interpretation is they are so embarrassed to call me back. And you know what, that guest has been on Airbnb for only one month. Airbnb would rather kiss his butt but treat me, a host over ten years, like a piece of **bleep**!

@Quincy: 👋

We are approachable,  friendly and helpful.

Some of the attractions that I enjoy and trust that visitors will also, are namely:

Dunns River Falls in St. Ann, an adventurous climb from bottom to top, best aided by a tour guide.

Castle Botanical Gardens in St. Mary, which also includes a river as a combo.

James Bond in St. Mary to enjoy the sunshine 🌞 and relax.

Hello All,

I'm Amber. I am originally from New England (East Coast), USA 🇺🇲, but currently live in NE Ohio.

I'm an avid reader, writer, editor, and do substantial magazine and newspaper writing for communities.

In my spare time I love to cook, (read more), draw, kayak, travel, and meet new people.

I'm an empty nester-ish with a hospitality management background and some time on my hands. I joined Airbnb after my dog died (she was a rescue and fearful of people).

I love my home and after seeing my neighbor do it, I thought I would just start. Its already been very rewarding to help others and do what I love (make people feel at home).

Thank you so much, Paula!

I was on live for less than I week I believe and have had 4 inquiries and 3 bookings so far.

The experience has been good. I was very nervous. There are so many scams out there to watch for, with this also being electronic I was nervous so I decided to ask my mentor a couple of questions as soon as I got my first inquiry! He was amazing

Bill was so supportive and gave me a couple of tips. (Even during set up online, he was helpful.)

It's interesting... I know I am in a location where it's hard to find good accommodations and proximity to needs combined, but who knew I'd be helping locals first during home remodels or visits back to the area.

Wow, @Amber-Jeanne0, securing 3 bookings in your first week hosting is a significant milestone! Congratulations! Even as a newcomer to the platform, it’s clear you have a wealth of knowledge about the hospitality industry. If you could share your top 3 tips for a great start on Airbnb, what would they be? 🌟

I also wanted to express my sympathy regarding your dog. I am very sorry. For me, my dogs are an important part of my family as well 💗
