By the way, this guest already tried to book the listing before that, but asked her/her boyfriend's cousin/brother (unclear which as that part kept changing) to make the booking so I had it cancelled on the basis that it was a third party booking. With that booking, there was initially a problem with the payment and the booking was confirmed regardless. The Airbnb Rep told me that there was a problem with the payment initially but that a second payment was successful, which is why the booking was showing as confirmed. That time, some details appeared to the right of the message thread, but not all of them. For example, there was a second named guest, but when I tried to click on that to view the details, I just got a blank section.
The second time around, she said, "Let me know and then I'll make the payment," even though, again the booking was showing as confirmed. This time, clearly there had been no attempt to make a payment. Why then was it showing as confirmed? How much time does the guest have to make or at least attempt to make a payment after they instant book?
It was a full day and half between the booking being made and being cancelled and, as far as I can see, the guest didn't attempt to make any payment during this time as we were going back and forth about a few things.
