Pet Fee Question

Pet Fee Question

I will be hosting my first couple who has a large dog. They will be staring 3 months. I would like to charge them a flat non refundable fee to have their dog there. I have read that this is something that would go through the resolution center. Is this something that is done before they arrive? Or submit the claim after they check out? any other pet tips would be appreciated.

Hopefully you made the guest aware of the flat in your discussions or have a pet fee set up on you listing.

If I were that guest and was unaware of the expectation of an extra fee that was not noted before booking, I would be very upset at the host.

Also, make sure the dig has all of its vaccinations.

Good luck.

@Megan940  You can't add extra charges that weren't mentioned when the guest booked, and no one is ever going to pay you for something after they check out.

If I were you, if there is any way you can cancel this booking without penalties, I would. There is no way you should be accepting a 3 month booking as new hosts. A guest ceases to be a guest after 30 days- they will be classified as a tenant and covered by local landlord/tenant laws. Airbnb provides none of the safeguards landlords use with tenants.

@Megan940,

I just looked at your listing, and noticed that you don't have the Pet Fee enabled (found under the Pricing and Availability tab on your dashboard).  Once you set a price for that you shouldn't need to send a request for a non-refundable fee.  You mention a $100 pet fee in the Things to Know section, and if it was posted before the reservation came through, the guests should pay the fee.
