I have a confirmed booking for a place in Wales. I booked the dates and paid, but the owner has now messaged to say he wishes to increase the £60 a night to £100. Can he do this, I paid the advertised price.
If you booked on the Air BNB platform, the host is obligated to honor the rate at the time of the booking, @Stewart85 . If you made any changes or requested any services after your booking the host has the ability to request additional funds. That also must be done through the system and not just a message to you to pay more. It is possible the host neglected to update the nightly rate for seasonal reasons before you booked, but that is his error, not yours. My question for you is do you want to continue with a host that is demanding more money? Might be a good idea to look around for an alternatae place to stay.
He should have done this before you booked.
Now it is a closed deal.
Very weird behaviour of the host.
No of course the owner can't do this. It is his fault if he incorrectly priced his listing at the time you booked.
Just reply and say you are sorry that he incorrectly priced his listing but he needs to honour the price you booked at (there's a risk he may cancel but then he will be penalised).
Make sure all communications are on the platform and give Airbnb a call too.
When are you travelling by the way @Stewart85 - at the moment Wales is in lockdown and not accepting bookings for short term rentals
