Private room San Francisco

Private room San Francisco

Hello. We are thinking of purchasing a house as our primary residence, but want to Airbnb a private room. I have read that we would not need to register to the city for this since we will be living in the property. Do you have any experience with this? I just mainly want to confirm that I indeed would not need to register - wouldn't want to mess with the authorities.

Why don't you look on the website for your local authorities to see the STR policy for your area @Rosa210 . I don't know of any government bodies banned shared homes outright but there might be a restriction on STRs in a particular area.

You can also check information about STRs in regulated areas on Airbnb's website.

Hey Rosa!

Fellow SF host here-

If you plan to rent the room for less than 30 days at a time, you will need to go through the registration process and obtain an STR number from Omar at the Office of Short Term Rentals.  Otherwise Airbnb will remove your listing.

The process is not too difficult if its your primary residence.  Good luck!
