I had a recent guest that gave my digital access code to a "friend"  of hers. I met her friend and her man in the driveway. They informed me that my guest had given them the code to access our Airbnb space. Telling me that our registered guests would be along shortly. Two hours went by and my guests weren't back. I went to my lower level suite (located in our home) and knocked and yelled for this couple. They eventually came out of the bedroom. I told them they were not our registered guests, not covered by Airbnb's insurance and would have to leave immediately. They left but came back later with our "registered" guests and spent the night (all without a word from our guests). So, I charged my guest $25 for having the extra people spend the night. I messaged my guests telling them "had you asked, I would have been ok with them staying". But, I didn't care for them giving them access to our place all with them not accompanying the extra couple. After all this, they snuck them in again the next night after we went to bed and tried to sneak them out early in the morning. However, my husband got up before they left and saw their vehicle in our driveway. So, I charged my guest another $25 extra person charge.

Anyhow, my guest left me a TERRIBLE review and it brought down my SuperHost score.

I hate that people who break your house rules can then go on to damage your status.

Can't something be done about that type of review effect?!

@Debbie128 The answer to your question is very simple.

YES Airbnb can do something about revenge reviews

Sadly the question that should be asked is

WILL Airbnb do something about revenge reviews

To date the answer to this question is NO but we live in hope that they will one day....

@Debbie128 I can't say it any better than @Mike-And-Jane0 . Sad but true Airbnb does not have hosts backs where it really counts.

Though it doesn't help with your retaliatory review problem now, I would suggest that you make your house rules wording stronger to specifically address unregistered guests, to help you better deal with this aggravation going forward. Do all you can to prevent it happening in the first place. Being in front of situations as much as possible is the best way to operate on Airbnb. Think 'prevention' every step of the way.
