Good afternoon everyone. I'm using this space as last option... I have been living in Ghana for the past months and using airbnb as I didn't have a clear picture of when I was going to leave. I've had only good experiences and reviews everywhere I stayed so far.

I decided to book a place for one month (until the end of march). It had no reviews but I decided to try it anyway.

After one day, I come back from groceries and find a woman in my room, she had put all of my clothes from my luggage on the floor and was going through my other stuff (no one had asked me before if anyone could come into my room or made me aware that they could use another key to enter my room without my permission).

I get mad and tell her and the host that it is not acceptable. The only answers I get is laughs, smilling apologies and that : "your clothes were dirty" or "don't you think you're overreacting to this" etc. I express my desire to leave which is again met with laughs.

I contact airbnb, crying and feeling unsafe as a young woman traveling alone. They say they are going to look into the case and contact me back. I explain to them that I don't have access to my email and wish to be contacted by telephone or airbnb chatbox. (This was one week ago and I still don't have a resolution offer.)

After the incident I offered the host to make me a partial refund and that I would simply look for another place as I didn't feel safe. He first accepted then refused (after I made the stay shorter on airbnb thinking it would get me a partial refund)saying, I quote : "this is not my problem, it is yours","either you stay here for the rest of your stay or you leave but you won't get a refund", "I was going to get you a refund but you act like this is your right and it is not"

As a student and volunteer, I do not have the luxury to just book places so I left my luggages locked there and tried to stay out as much as possible and staying at other friends places.

As I was taking a quick shower two days ago, what should I see but a man's head jumping to see inside through the small window (this happened again today).

I contacted airbnb again today to literally beg for a resolution and the answer I get is that "someone is going to contact me"...

The host sent me a text saying my "stay" there finishes today unless I want to modify the reservation again. After the shower second incident, I decided to book another place even though it puts me in a very financially dangerous position in a foreign country.

I don't know what to do anymore... So I am just asking here what I can do to at least get a partial refund...

Your priority is to be safe. It is appalling that Airbnb didn't help when you first raised this safety issue with them.

If your booking finishes today, I presume you have found an alternative to stay in as you knew you would be leaving. Hopefully you have booked with an experienced superhost with good reviews.

If the current host agreed to amend the date, then you should get a refund for any days you haven't stayed.

Hi @Inaissa0 , I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope you managed to find a different place where you can feel safe again now!

I'm sending this over to the team now as well. I'll let you know as soon as I have an update.
