Hi, just had a guest write to me cancelling for tonight. Here's the kicker... He didn't want to cancel through Airbnb but defer his booking to another date! He didn't want to pay the cancellation fee and asked for a free night off the books another time! I did the right think and rang Airbnb to cancel his booking so they then returned his money and gave him a refund! Just spent all morning trying to convince them that I should get my money back!! Spoke to 3 operators and a supervisor and not 1 could understand the concern even though they could read that he asked to go off the books. Guest just contacted bragging that he got a refund and still wanted to make another free booking!! We have a clear problem with communication and common sense here and as a woman it worries me!
Whaaaat?! Call Air BNB again. You have a moderate policy so you should be paid unless there are extenuating circumstances. I have seen so many posts that reflect CS will come up with very different responses.
I don't get why you had the booking canceled. Guests should always be the one's to cancel. Also never defer the date. Guest use this method to scam the host. They cancel the new reservation and receive a full refund.
