Short Term Rental Bans beyond COVID reasons

Short Term Rental Bans beyond COVID reasons

I am seeing more and more cities or parts of cities banning short term rentals.  I really would like to know what @Airbnb is doing about this as IPO is filed?  I think more places are going to keep banning short term rentals.  How is Airbnb helping keep short term rentals alive in different cities?

@Yiwei3 @I believe they have dedicated employees travelling to cities and attending city council meetings to work with the bi-laws already in place to find solutions to regulations within municipalities. They are doing as much as possible to encourage city zoning and planning to allow the short term rental industry to succeed. I believe they do more than any other vacation home or short term rental platform to pass city bi-laws to regulate the industry. On the other side of the coin are different interest groups. These organizations argue against allowing short term accommodations within a community. In a democracy people should have a say and it is in large up to the people who live in a community to be interested, vocal, informed and involved in the process.
Be aware there are many Interest groups in the debate and swaying public opinion comes in many forms from negative press, rumours, propaganda, blogs and forums. Lobbyists work to direct public opinion in their favour because it is the role of government to represent the citizens, if the citizens adopt the lobbyists view, perhaps the government will as well in order to represent what the citizens want.
