As I enter my 10th year of hosting and as a Superhost, I still believe that being a Superhost is more than a badge of recognition; it’s a journey that brings personal growth, fulfillment, and meaningful connections. Here’s how hosting has positively impacted my life.
The joy of hosting guests
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Superhost is the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. Hosting has given me the chance to:
- Create memorable experiences. Whether it’s a thoughtful welcome gift or personalized recommendations, every interaction allows me to make my guests’ trips unforgettable.
- Foster cultural exchange. Engaging with guests has expanded my worldview and taught me to appreciate diverse perspectives.
- Develop long-lasting relationships. Several guests have become friends, and staying in touch has enriched my personal network.

The financial benefits
While every host experience is unique and earnings may depend on many factors including availability, price, and demand in a particular area—for me, hosting has had a profound impact on my financial well-being, including:
- Improved stability. The steady stream of income has allowed me to cover expenses and reinvest in my property to enhance the guest experience.
- New opportunities. I’ve been able to pursue personal passions, from traveling to upgrading my home, without financial stress
- Savings for the future. Hosting has helped me build a financial cushion, offering peace of mind and security.
Personal growth and fulfillment
This journey has also been a catalyst for self-improvement and I’ve developed:
- Enhanced hospitality skills. I’ve honed my ability to anticipate needs, solve problems, and deliver exceptional service.
- Increased confidence. Successfully managing bookings, addressing challenges, and receiving positive reviews have boosted my confidence.
- A sense of purpose. Knowing I’ve contributed to someone’s positive travel experience brings immense satisfaction.

Being a Superhost has been life-changing. It’s about more than just earning money—it’s about connecting with people, learning new skills, and creating a home that leaves a lasting impression. Hosting has made me a better listener, a more thoughtful individual, and a stronger member of my community.
As I await our 37th consecutive Superhost status since 2016, I don’t just look at the number and the nine years we’ve come. For me, hosting on Airbnb has been a family and team effort by getting here where we are at. My main niche in hosting is family. To share our home with our global family. I therefore give credit to my 25 year old Son, who is also my co-host, and our loyal team of helpers. I couldn’t have done it alone, could I? I look at the wonderful forever memories and relationships that we have fostered. I look back at trying times that have left us with a stronger resolve to pursue this passion that is now our way of life. Reading through some heartwarming reviews and notes left by our hundreds of gracious guests reminds us of the magic made. We are totally in gratitude and in awe at this sojourn.
Thank you, Airbnb ❤️
