So, the guest requested a booking for the day after tomorrow and I accepted. She has good reviews, she requested booking for 5 people, seems Ok
But the payment is still pending so the booking is not finished.
Then the guy wrote me that he is her brother, using his sister's account and he is coming with 2 friends. So, it's a third-party booking. With the wrong number of guests.
Then I noticed the pricing is wrong. My nightly price is 80€ x 4 nights should be 320€.... but the Airbnb breakdown shows just 170€ for 4 nights. Under the breakdown is written "special offer" 170€. What special offer? I didn't give any.
So, I have to withdraw my approval before he finishes his payment, do you have any idea how to do it?
MY PRICE IS 80€ PER NIGHT
4 NIGHTS = 170€ ???
@Branka-and-Silvia0 No, sorry. Never had to deal with this sort of thing. You'll have to deal with CS, unfortunately.
When no payment is made within 24 hours de booking will expire (inform the guest: please do not pay....as it is a 3rd party booking and it will be cancelled anyway).
Otherwise you need to cancel yourself (or ask Airbnb to cancel penalty free as the "special offer" seems to be a glitch).
@Emiel1 is this "special offer" some known, new glitch? Did you hear about it lately?
I did not notice this in the community
I would suggest to check if there is indeed no special offer sent, otherwise your account maybe hacked.
@Emiel1 I suppose it will be shown in the message thread with a guest. But it is not.
I just see "inquiry sent" , "preapproval sent" and "request expires in 23 hours" , nothing else
I agree with @Colleen253 and @Sarah977, you need to contact customer service, and tell them to cancel the reservation, because it's a third-party booking. While on the phone with the representative, ask them if they see any active special offers associated with your listing, because it's listed in your payout description, and you aren't aware of any discounts.
Oh, I just saw your post about not seeing anything in message thread about a special offer. It sounds like the guest was trying to trick you into a very discounted stay. Are the dates on your Airbnb calendar showing as blocked? If not, then it's a sign this is attempted fraud.
@Debra300 How could the guest be trying to trick her as far as the payment goes? That payment box, with that special offer and incorrect nightly pricing is generated by Airbnb, not the guest.
It appears to me that the "brother" somehow was able to generate a special offer from @Branka-and-Silvia0's account. As @Emiel1, the account may be hacked. Even if it's not a hacked account, the next option could be that the guy was able to get hold of a discount code that Airbnb's system accepted. I just did a quick search, and found a few coupon aggregators that showed Airbnb 30% discounts. Here's one site: https://couponfollow.com/site/airbnb.com.
@Debra300 I was under the impression that if a guest used a discount code, that doesn't affect the host's payout, Airbnb absorbs that diffference. When you use your Superhost $100 voucher, it doesn't mean the host you book with takes a $100 loss.
It all sounds really strange to me.
I am just saying that it's plausible that the guest somehow got ahold of an unwarranted discount code. There is a scenario when a guest uses a host coupon that the amount will be deducted from the host's payout.

@Debra300 what? How can Airbnb give a discount code on my behalf? 😮
I checked my account and it seems nothing has been changed, it doesn't seem hacked... as far as i can see.... but do you know how can I see the list of places from where my account was accessed lately? I knew where it was but the whole platform has changed again (!) and I can't find this page anymore.
