I am active on a couple of other forums, and I have noticed a really concerning trend over the past couple of years in painting Airbnb as an unreliable, unresponsive platform. There have always been a regular quota of problem posts here on the CC but, once upon a time we used to see the odd Airbnb issue crop up outside of Airbnb on other forums but, more recently they are becoming ever more frequent and ever more damning.
I will let this post do the talking......
It appears not only was he charged for unused rental on an apartment he was forbidden to continue renting, on the same day as he was forced to cancel Airbnb puts the property up for rent again, as per that screenshot.
Can you see how this looks to the outside world?
I can't vouch for the reliability of the content of that post but, in comments to it and the writers responses, he gave a legitimate rationale for what ever he had said.
It worries me that Airbnb would treat any user, be they host or guest like that but we are seeing a growing bank of evidence that this is what they are doing.
We are losing our respectability and I hate to see that. I know it's not up to Airbnb to establish the legitimacy of each listing they post, but Airbnb need to be a bit more proactive in solving these issues instead of sweeping them under the rug, concentrating on a lot of feel good nonsense about rediscovering a post Covid world and ignoring major problems by simply hanging up on the hapless user leaving him thousands of dollars out of pocket!
Cheers.........Rob
