Unvaccinated Housekeeping

Recently our property housekeeper notified us her child tested positive for Covid. She will be tested next week according to her Dr.’s recommendation. She is expecting all 7 family members to get it. She and her husband are not vaccinated and will not be getting the vaccination. Her husbands employer is requiring him to quarantine for 14 days, however she said she cannot afford to not work so she is till working till she gets tested. We asked her to wait to clean our property till she gets an all clear from her Dr., we will pay her for the next clean even though we will be doing it ourselves to help them a bit.

We are considering requiring housekeeping to be vaccinated to help protect everyone. I am immune compromised and taking all necessary precautions, I do have contact (masked) with the housekeepers occasionally. Housekeeping is aware of the required cleaning protocol.

We would appreciate other hosts input on this, Thank you in advance.

@Tracy405 I would think you need to plan on cleaning your own place for the next 3 or 4 weeks or find a new housekeeper. Even if your housekeeper tests negative she could easily catch the virus from the others in her family over the next few weeks.

To not get vaccinated is madness unless you have a few rare illnesses. Our daughter got Covid after 1 jab but even though we were sharing a house we didn't catch it probably because we had had 2 jabs.

@Tracy405  If it were me, I would tell this housekeeper she no longer has a job with me. She is a danger to you and your guests.

These anti-vaxers are already being fired from many jobs and will not be allowed to do or go a lot of places. You can't tie people up and force them to be vaxed, but their decision has consequences.

You might as well fire her and get it over with.  She's a danger to herself and others and deserves no mercy.  Plus, as she and hubby will be given the flick from any job they currently hold and hope to hold in the near future, it's good practice for her.

Great to hear people having such strong views on this. Yes, I agree - no vax no job. It just isn't worth the trouble for you or your guests. Hi from NZ!

Fire her. The virus is airborne and now science says it can linger in the air for a while after being released. We are keeping our Covid-19 buffers in place (we don't enter for two days to clean except to get the trash).

Sorry she doesn't want to get vaccinated but also doesn't want to lose her income. People like that are why the virus isn't under control

I just don't understand what people like that are thinking. But for sure she wouldn't be welcome to work for me anymore.

Even when vaccinated you still can spread the virus. The virus isn’t looking for a needle mark in your arm and when he finds it moving on to the next person. You still can infect some one else. Jabbed or not. So if the person you love cannot be vaccinated for legitametd reasons, you as a twice jabbed person can still send him to hospital. So it works two ways. Please do not discriminate people who make choices for other reasons then your own. Personaly it saddens me how the world is treading his fellow human beings during this pandemic. I hope people will come to think otherwise, when the hole media circus from all sorts of goverment agency’s stop. ❤️

@Katja202  People can make their own choices, but there are consequences to choices. If someone refuses to be vacccinated, that is their choice, but they may lose their employment because of it.

At least 90% of hospitalized Covid patients, clogging up the ICU wards, and dying, are now the unvaccinated.

And patients who need care for other serious medical problems can't get a hospital bed. This isn't media circus, it's fact.

I have zero sympathy for those who refuse to get vaccinated unless they really have a medical reason which makes it a huge danger to them. And that is rare.

They aren't welcome in my home, nor do I want to be around them. That isn't called discrimination- discrimination concerns something that a person has no control over, that is a part of who they are- their race, their nationality, their age, their sexual orientation, a disability.  Declining to get vaccinated to help mitigate a massive public health crisis is a choice and my choice is to have nothing to do with those people. They disgust and anger me.

@Sarah977 Hard words. Sorry to hear that. You describe people who have the human right to dispose of their own body as disgusting. Simply because the have another opinion as you have. That you have another opinion is ok, it is your right. But as well as you deserve respect, so do they. That’s all I ‘m saying. If I would say now hard words over your post you will be very angry with me. I will not do so, because i think i know where you are coming from. But even if I am not knowing that. I still respect you think otherwise and will not blame you, why should I? It won’t help me one bit. I hope you understand what I am saying. Please don’t judge people for another opinion. It makes the world a much beter place if we would all be a bit more caring. If you don’t want to be in contact with people who are not vaccinated that’s ok. Make sure you don’t, but please don’t judge. That’s all

Wow, people who have decided to make a choice different than yours, disgust and anger you, and you have zero sympathy for them.

And you are happy to tell the world about that.

@Dave295  No, not "people who have decided to make a choice different from mine". People who have made a choice to act in a manner which endangers the health of others and puts an unnecessary strain on the health care system.
