It happens to all of us once in awhile - we go down a YouTube rabbit hole 🙂
My favorites, with an example of each, are dance (https://youtu.be/UGsfzsWkybc), the Olympics (https://youtu.be/0B0tSnQKzwo), and VEEP (https://youtu.be/AmHWFmnioBM). I could watch "Amy Brookheimer Is A Terrible Person" every week and never get tired of it.
What are some of yours?
KiaOra @Ann72
Love to dance to nineties stuff and especially loving all the TikTok skits to Nightcrawlers ‘Push The Feeling On’ where people get out of their car to dance. 😉
I saw even Gordon Ramsey got in on the act the other week.

Have a lovely day .
@Ann72 Wow, darling, are you a fan of Russian figure skating? 😍 Gordeeva and Grinkov were really a super couple, and so much tenderness and touching. Bestemyanova and Bukin, Angelica Krylova and Ovsyannikov, Anton Sikharulidze and Elena Berezhnaya (with them there was a terrible scandal in Calgary, if I remember correctly), Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, uh... A whole era!
@Anna9170 Darling - YES - and can you believe that I had the great fortune to be in the audience when Gordeeva and Grinkov performed in Calgary?? It was one of the peak moments in my life (after childbirth obvs) - I'll never forget his big hand taking her tiny one just before they skated onto the middle of the ice, and then the utter PERFECTION of their performance! I didn't realize at the time that Peggy Fleming was one of the commentators, which makes the whole thing even better. They so completely took my heart that I barely remember Bestemyanova and Bukin.
As far as Russian figure skating - I'm such a fan that I almost can't watch skaters from other countries - I'm always screaming "Your hands are like dead fish!" "Do you have no idea what the music is doing?" etc., it's quite embarrassing. I don't understand how anyone else ever wins, the Russians are always so exquisite, they understand ballet, music, poetry, passion, and of course skating like no one ever has or ever could.
And then there's Aleksei Yagudin - be still my heart.
Torvill and Dean are the exception.
Rant over. Promise me you'll watch Veep someday, it's brilliant, but start with the second season.
@Ann72 Wow, honey, I am so excited!!! Were you at that performance by Katya and Sergei in Calgary? I have no words, just emotions, because it's their best and most touching performance, and probably it felt so much when you were around! I watched it only on TV and still had goosebumps. They were the most delicate couple, she is so fragile and he is a great defender. 🤗 After his death, the whole country cried.😥
Yagudin and Plushchenko are constant holy war, but they are both beautiful.
We have a real failure in female figure skating, and I have always been a fan of Katharina Witt, I'm sure you know her!)
OMG, why do we need tapas and zara when there is such a bright common passion! 😂😍
p.s. about VEEP - I'll be happy to keep your recommendation. I'm a film maniac in general, mostly thrillers.😎
@Anna9170 Yes, I was at the Olympics in Calgary and if you ever have a chance to attend the Olympics, run, don't walk, it's the most amazing experience and nothing like it seems on TV! Katya and Sergei are my favorite pair of all time, your description of them is perfect. I love what you say about Yagudin and Pluschenko 😂 And yes, love love love Katharina Witt.
To this common passion add thrillers! I'm obsessed with them. When I have nothing else to watch I rewatch all the Bourne movies (the first 3). I don't usually watch comedy but Veep is so brilliantly cutting it's irresistible. But what is your favorite recent thriller?
@Ann72 I wanted to write that today is a day of pleasant discoveries, but it is not, because I immediately saw in you a soul mate! 😍
About Katarina Witt, do you remember this Olympics finale, when she and the American skater both danced Carmen? And the difference between them was just huge.😆
Thrillers. So, maybe I will be banned?😂 Because if I start talking about it, it is worth changing the title of this theme). In general, I love the harder, the better. Fincher, Lars von Trier et al. Scandinavian and British harsh serials. But, the best is always the True Detective first season, this is Everest).
@Anna9170 Same - from the first time I heard your voice on these pages I wanted to hang out with you!
I do remember that Olympics when they both danced Carmen! Witt's I can picture in my mind but not the other's. 🙂
I'm going to have to go back to True Detective one day! But for me, the Everest is Fargo, any season.
@Ann72 Fargo is unsurpassed! especially the original film from the Cohen brothers. and what a fantastic Francis McDormand? ha, she is super everywhere.
And that I am a fan of Tarantino is already understood, right?).😎
@Anna9170 LOL yes, the Tarantino devotion goes without saying 😂 I love the Coen brothers too.
@Ann72 I will be very glad if you give links to your favorite performances of figure skaters) any performances that you love! 😋
And by the way, from the relatively new movies, Gentlemen from Guy Ritchie, I'm sure you've already watched it - it's a diamond. The apotheosis is not political correctness)).

And of the series is very good Defending Jacob. Even Chris Evans could surprise me )))) .
The finale is not quite correct, because there is a discrepancy with the book, and there are not clear nuances, but generally good work.

@Anna9170 I haven't seen "The Gentlemen" - I can't wait to watch it! I loved Lock, Stock, & Smoking Barrel. How did I miss this film??
I keep putting off watching Defending Jacob but if you recommend it, I'll watch it. One of my favorite shows recently is "Ozark." I just heard there's going to be a 5th season. The second season wasn't the strongest but overall it just keeps getting better and better (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5071412/)
The other favorite show is "Good Girls" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6474378/).
So skating - here goes, some of my favorite Olympic moments.
Here's Yagudin at Salt Lake City. This was the first time I saw him and I nearly jumped out of my skin. I can't get over his posture on the ice. His line is so perfect in every move. I know Pluschenko was his chief rival but I far prefer Yagudin. They're both at the beginning of this video of Yagudin's short program at Salt Lake City - which starts 3.5 minutes in: https://youtu.be/oB2zNSu8K0I
And here is my heart - Evgenia Medvedeva - in 2018 - her interpretation of Anna Karenina is perfect in every way - I'm pretty sure I was jumping up and down and texting every Russian friend in New York when I saw this: https://youtu.be/dL3jNyA83SA
The Olympic performances of Sara Hughes and Brian Boitano are so much fun to watch because you can see the point when they know they're going to win the gold medal and the sheer exhilaration is incredible to watch.
Of course one of the greatest performances of all time is Torvill and Dean's "Bolero." It's not in HD as far as I can tell but it's still incredibly powerful: https://youtu.be/rc-0BCSyWtc
Impossible to describe how innovative and influential that performance was. And the end kills me every time!
@Anna9170 All day I felt I was forgetting to do something, and I just remembered what it was! "Tell Anna the second season of Ozark is DREARY but the 3rd and 4th seasons are brilliant."
There! I did it! 🤣😘
