Hi everyone!
As we dive into the month of August and celebrate Happiness month, it's a great time to reflect on our Hosts' Airbnb journey and hear what brings them joy while hosting. Hosting and hospitality is not just limited to providing a stay to the guests, but it also provides an avenue to create memorable experiences, building connections, and finding success and happiness in the little moments.
So I'd like to hear from our Hosts, what makes you happy the most when it comes to hosting? 😍 We're curious to hear what brings you joy in your hosting journey! 🌟😻
Best,
Bhumika

Hi @Tim3880 , thanks so much for sharing these amazing experiences 😍 Looks like you build an amazing rapport with your guests! I'm sure guests appreciate all the local tips and food recommendations 🍲
I had a look at your listing, and it looks so vibrant and full of life😍 Have you decorated and designed the interior all by yourself?
We started this adventure because we live in So. Cali and our retirement income is being swallowed by taxes and inflation. However, we have had 7 guests so far and we have enjoyed every one of them. We have watched a couple get ready for their wedding, another sweet couple were new to California and bought their first home while staying with us, a single man who stayed a month was truly delightful etc. We have just loved getting to know and hopefully bless the people who are coming to stay at our Cozy Country Home. We are totally booked the second 1/2 of this month and new bookings (since I incorporated some of the good advice I received on this forum) through November. Pure Joy!
Hi @Elaine1057 😊
Thank you for sharing these wonderful memories with the community. I really appreciate it! 😍
Did you help in any way with the wedding?
Warm regards🌻,

Creating experiences of well-being, ease and connection has always been something that I've loved. Anytime someone comes to my own home they always comment on how calm they feel.
When I had an opportunity to create our rental property, I knew I wanted to make it a space that felt like an extension of my own home and that hopefully, allowed guests to feel a sense of warmth, comfort and greater of well-being.
It's all in the details!
I've been very intentional about creating various, what I call, points of ritual and connection which I feel enhance daily life. This looks like cozy corners to enjoy your morning tea or coffee, handmade ceramic mugs that make drinking that beverage just a little more special, nooks and objects that invite slowing down, a simple table that allows for lingering longer over a meal.
Infusing these points of ritual is one of my favorite parts of hosting. My intention is always to make even the mundane a little more meaningful. I think my guests feel that even if they aren't totally aware as to why.
Hi @Tania856 😊
Thank you for your comment!
I agree with you, details always make a big difference in life and in the guest experience. 😍
Did you have any guests who were unable to appreciate those gestures?

When it comes to hosting on Airbnb, what makes me truly happy is the opportunity to create memorable experiences for my guests. I enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world and hearing their stories. There's a unique joy in knowing that I've provided a comfortable and welcoming space that contributes to their travel experience.
@Yaseen13 Creating memorable experiences must be incredibly fulfilling.
What’s one of the most memorable stories or experiences you’ve had with a guest so far?
I’d love to hear more about the moments that have brought you the most joy in hosting!
Bhumika,
What a beautiful question!
I am a newbie, started in May 2024.
I found that our guests come to our little town for so many reasons. Our townfolks ask me, "Why do people visit Seguin, Texas?" I have people here for business, a vising nurse and a roofing salesman. I have people here to have a short staycation to get away from taking care of an elderly family member. Several people are here for family reunions, visiting friends and family. I am always surprised to hear the stories.
One guest had his large commercial truck break down on the expressway. He was here for a week while getting his truck repaired. He fell in love with our town! He fell in love with my back porch!
A few people were tired and just needed to find a quick stay - at midnight!
You just never know where the journey is going and I love that!
A shameless plug for our AirBnB as I am still new: airbnb.com/h/shog-chess
Happy Trails!
@Deborah1559 It sounds like you’ve had some really interesting and diverse experiences with your guests. I’m curious—what’s been the most unexpected or memorable story you’ve heard from a guest so far? It’s amazing how travel can bring such unique stories to light.
Additionally, since you're new to Hosting, I would also recommend that you ask the Community for listing critique as it could be very helpful receiving feedback from fellow Hosts. Read more on how to ask listing critique by clicking here👈
Best of luck with your Airbnb! 🌟
Quincy,
My most memorable guest was while I was traveling on business. A guest booked and arrived immediately. He kept opening and closing the door to the balcony. When I got home, I found this guy had his truck break down on a major highway. I was the most reasonable listing in the area. He loved the balcony hanging out there most of the day! He loved our peaceful yard below. He stayed almost a week. He was so gracious and kind!
Quincy, thank you for the advice on asking for advice on our listings. I did a request as you suggested. You, as a super host and veteran, plus being in another country, I would LOVE YOUR feedback!

Wow, where do I start?
I have been an AirBnb Host for over ten years now, in both country and city locations.
What I loved most in my early days of hosting when I did everything myself was providing a "home away from home" experience. This was well received and I thrived on every aspect of the journey.
As my life has evolved, I am now living in a different state to where my current listing is located - and am using the services of one of AirBnb Co-Hosts. This has been an exciting journey too! Letting go of the past and opening up to the new style of Hosting.
One of my most memorable guest experiences was when one of my beautiful houseguest offered to help me service my apartment in Melbourne - which allowed her and her husband to stay longer, and saved me rushing after work. We kept in touch for a while, she was a beautiful soul.
I am currently liaising with a friend in South Australia in relation to joining AirBnb as a Host. It is becoming busier over here, and I believe my friends home is perfect to share.
The AirBnb Support team are truly amazing - always there when you need them.
