Hello everyone 👋 I hope you're all having a great week!

Recently, one of our wonderful hosts, @Oksana12, shared an inspiring post about the transformation of her property, titled "From Mess to Cozy Nest: The Transformation of "Mandarin"  I was truly impressed by all the hard work she and her team put into creating such a beautiful space 😍🍊

Has anyone else here completed a property transformation, whether it was during the start of your hosting journey or more recently due to personal renovations or guest feedback?

We'd love to see the changes you've made! Feel free to share before and after photos of your listing — your transformation could inspire many other hosts in our community 🌟

Best regards 😎

Hola @Paula,

Saludos.

Hello everyone! 👋 I hope you're all having a fantastic week as well!

I’d be thrilled to participate in sharing before-and-after photos of my listing, but unfortunately, all my “before” photos were on a phone I lost, and I hadn’t backed them up. Lesson learned the hard way! 😅

That said, I’m really excited to see the amazing transformations others have achieved with their properties. It’s always so inspiring to see the creativity and effort that goes into making a space truly special. Looking forward to all the incredible stories and photos! 🌟

Best regards,
Gary

Hello @Gary1419,

As you said, lesson learned—that’s the most important thing! 😎

Did you renovate your whole house or just specific areas like the kitchen or bathrooms? Also, did you do this at the start of your hosting journey or more recently due to a specific situation?

Please keep us updated! 😊

Hello @Oksana12,

Thank you for your reply! 😊 I actually renovated the entire house—from the roof all the way down to the floors. I purchased the property with the vision of creating a relaxing and enjoyable Airbnb getaway, so all the work was completed before I started hosting. It was definitely a labor of love, but seeing the transformation made it all worth it.

How about you? Did you renovate your entire property, or did you focus on specific areas like the kitchen or bathrooms? I’d love to hear more about your experience!

Looking forward to staying connected and sharing more updates. 🌟

Best regards,
Gary

Hi Paula,  We only have a few before photos of the cabin we are renting out.  The transformation was mainly replacing appliances, fixing all the issues with the cabin like broken plumbing fixtures, having the septic system located and pumped out, adding a hot tub and privacy fence, adding handrails, removing the dirt/grime.  The we furnished it by buying used items locally from small businesses.  It's been so much fun to do it all.  BeforeBeforeAfter, soft wash and roof cleaningAfter, soft wash and roof cleaningAfter, Driveway, lighting , soft wash and roof cleaningAfter, Driveway, lighting , soft wash and roof cleaning

Hello @Mark5779,

Wow, I love your cabin 😍—it looks like a dream place for me! The transformation you described is impressive, and it’s amazing to hear about the effort you put into every detail.

What was the most challenging part of the renovation? How long did it take to complete everything? Also, where did you find most of the unique, used items for furnishing? Supporting small businesses is such a wonderful touch!

Do you have any future plans or new features you’d like to add to the cabin?

Looking forward to hearing from you 😊

Thank you @Paula !  The renovation took just about 2 months to do. We spent every day working on it.  My wife and I did it all ourselves with the exception of the specialty trades like the septic system and the soft wash.  The cabin had a damp smell to it, but I fixed the AC pump and we had the ducts cleaned. When they cleaned the air ducts they got a full bag of stuff out of them.  It now smells fresh and clean.  It's amazing what a little maintenance can do. The cabin was completely unfurnished.  And it had appliances that were not working well. So we bought new ones and installed them.  I did all of the plumbing repairs and most everything else.  We bought new gas logs for the fireplace and bought a cast iron gas freestanding stove that's in the game room.   The most challenging part of it all was that I'm 74 so going up and down ladders, fitting under sinks, and lifting/moving the furniture were sometimes a struggle. MY wife is 73, and we work well together, se we were able to accomplish everything we needed to do. We bought everything used from local thrift stores,  the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, and the local flea markets.  We bought the log bed new from a local craftsman who built it for us.  We could have just ordered everything on line and made a big company get even bigger, but we chose to stay local and put our money back into the community. It was a blast to find things.  The seemed to shout out to us as we were looking around in the stores.  Our goal was to create a romantic cozy cabin for couples to enjoy while visiting the north Georgia mountains. My wife paid attention to details and she did a fantastic job at making that goal come true. The only additional plan we have right now is to add a small roof over the upper deck outside of the bedroom so guests can sit out in the rain or snow if they want. There are other covered areas, but the bedroom area has a great view of the woods and then deer when they come through.
