I appreciate Airbnb's book-keeping and it is one of the many reasons I continue with Airbnb. However, I am at a loss understanding the book-keeping for cancelations. I recently had a guest ask about canceling their September stay because they did not feel comfortable traveling due to Covid 19. Since it was Covid related and elderly traveling, I agreed to fully refund even though I have a strict cancelation policy. I specifically mentioned to Airbnb that I agreed to fully refund so LONG as I did not have to pay. I had heard from another host in our area of their account being debited for a cancelation. Subsequently, Airbnb took money from my May 29 guest payment and used it to pay for a cancelation of a different guest in September. Am I missing something? Why take funding from me, when I have not seen any of the deposit, for the cancelation of a reservation which will not take place three months in the future?
Kind regards,
Jeanne
