To say that i would be disappointed if Joe Gebbia remains with the board and gets involved in DOGE would be an understatement...

Dear family community of hosts, and airbnb employees..
I reserve space on the airbnb platform for long term stays for quietude, business, work remote. I disclose and point out the importance of this.
Early in my stay, it is discovered, there is a puppy pit bull, chronic dog barker in a chained gate cage adjoining my unit space in the back yard.
the dog barks from 6pm, to all through the night, every 3 to 7 seconds...
Im going to go to the neighbor directly...or go to host.
1. if I go to host this will certainly default to a retaliatory harassing negative cleaning review against the consumer. Airbnb always mishandles this, betrays, threatens my account and make things worse.
2. If I go to to the neighbor, and the neighbor knows im staying next door and tells the owner, this will certainly default to a harassing negative cleaning review against me to hurt me, and Airbnb always mishandles this, betrays, threatens my account and makes things worse..
3. I could anonymously call the emergency police after 10 or 11pm, but miss out on so much work done...and peace of mind.
disclosure
I use airbnb for long term month long stays or more.
My whole goal now using airbnb is to avoid being harassed by fraudulent retaliatory cleaning reviews after check out and chronic mis-handlings by Airbnb of review system.
i do not trust hosts.
i do not trust airbnb support at all, post review time, because airbnb employee #1 says one thing, employee #2 does another, employee #3 and #4 and #5 have conflicting interpretations and seniority.
the consumer gets hurt in airbnb politics
i do not trust the review system , as it is used abusively against the consumer , allows hosts to escape cleaning responsibility, and airbnb passivity and leniency lets anything fly..
@Matt434 I am struggling to see how a dog barking equates to a bad cleaning review but to be fair I haven't booked many Airbnbs.
Now someone much wiser than me once said that insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I really think @Sarah977 is correct - You need to stop using Airbnb. I accept this will reduce revenues for hosts but I am sure they will cope.
@Matt434 I am amazed that hosts actually allow you to book with them. If I ever read the profile of a guest that had half of the content yours has I would cancel the reservation no matter what the penalty might be.
I am living in Massachusetts. I signed my lease in 2020 as a tenant At Will here to rent a room. The area I live in the house is the basement with three other rooms that are currently empty. The landlord is now trying to rent the other rooms to Airbnb guests? I do not feel comfortable with this because I am a tenant on a lease. She comes down here unannounced and shows the place to whomever she wants. She knows I am Minister who doesn't smoke weed, cigarettes or drink. I do not even keep company or loud music. I am not judging anyone but she knows my lifestyle. She told me this is a non-smoking building and drug free. Recently upstairs she started renting to 4 young men who smoke weed all day and cigarettes. The smell is horrible that it travels down to the basement. She is a liar and greedy for Money. I thought she cared about the policy that she told me about but I see when money is involved people have no values. She comes downstairs unannounced and shows the place to other people. Now she is trying to rent the rooms down here to Airbnb guests? Is this legal? I do plan on moving, But in the meantime I installed The RING because I do not feel safe with the traffic and unpredictable behavior of this landlord. She told me that she was not going to do Airbnb down here but she told me she can do whatever she wants it is her house and she needs the money. Help me someone with Airbnb knowledge.
Thank you
@Tynique0 Your question has nothing to do with Airbnb, it has to do with your rights as a tenant under landlord/tenant laws in your jurisdiction.
If she is giving access to rooms which allow others to access what was rented to you as private space, of course that is illegal.
But who she rents the upstairs to is up to her.
Yes I do not care about upstairs. She rents those rooms as Airbnb and that is fine. Although she said there is a non-smoking policy but I see that doesn't apply when money is presented. My main concern is the basement where I have been for two years as a tenant. I only added this app to see if any homeowners or Airbnb renters could tell me if what she is doing is right. I do know that morally and legally is two different things. I just feel so uncomfortable not knowing who is moving down here and that they can be new people every week where I shower and in the common area. If it was another tenant renting the room on a lease I could relax more. Also I should note I am so particular about keeping the bathroom and kitchen clean. I am a landlords dream tenant. This is only prompting me to own my own home! That way I can be more secure. I appreciate all of your replies.
Thank you Kindly
@Matt434 You can make an anonymous call to animal control about the dog barking all day. Depending on what state you are in, there may or may not be laws about how long a chained dog can be left outside.
I'm not sure why you think the owner would be upset, I imagine that a dog barking all day is annoying to all permanent residents.
**But, the answer to your question, again, is that you should stop using Airbnb and find a different platform that does not consider public reviews a vital part of the system.
