hi

I knew we were renting the whole house, but it was like a guest house, so I'd like to cancel it as soon as I get back, so can I get a refund?

@Seokhong0  it happens very frequently that guests arrive with inaccurate expectations because they didn't read the listing or misunderstood the meaning of Airbnb's terminology. This is not a good reason to demand a refund which is torn directly from the host's pocket.

Before you take any action, pull up the listing and take a more careful look at the descriptions. There's a big difference between a place being falsely advertised and one just not being what you thought it would.

If your issue with the place is so profound that you don't want to stay there, you can send a change request to alter the checkout date and leave early. It's up to the host whether they provide any refund beyond what their cancellation policy entitles you to. I don't recommend demanding any money back unless you are certain that the home was not what was promised in the listing.
