Hi,

I have a bit of a problem. I posted our listing for the first time yesterday. It is a house near a concert venue in Washington State. Our pricing varies greatly depending on holidays, concerts, etc. I set pricing up yesterday and when I set the rate for Labor Day Weekend (Dave Matthew Band concert) I believe I forgot to hit "save" on the pricing and it stayed at our base/lowest rate of $400. I meant to ask $1500. Before I realized the mistake, a renter picked it up at the $400 rate. We entered a dialogue about the pricing and she is, understandably,  not happy. I feel horrible, but 4 nights at $400 vs. 4 nights at $1500 is a big difference for us. She has asked me to cancel the reservation. Do you have any advice on how to make this right? I don't want to get a negative review and it was an honest mistake. Sorry to bother you with this. I am still learning the app.

@Mike2293

If you cancel, you face penalties. One of them is: those dates are locked for other bookings.

If you are a new host, better do not use Instant Book and test your listing (using the price calculator or simulate bookings on your own listings) to check if everything is setup  OK.

You can call Airbnb and ask them to cancel penalty free, but i doubt if the are willing to do this just because you "made a mistake".

Of all options the best is: accept the loss, learn from it,  and leave the reservation in place.

@Mike2293  Asking a guest to pay more because of the host's pricing error is the wrong thing to do. As Emiel advises, take it as a new host learning experience. We have all had those, in one way or another.

Thanks Sarah, that’s the plan. Thanks for your help.
