legal rights to host with your own home

I currently own a home in Marco Island Florida and have been hosting on airbnb for several months.Things have been going great. To find out some rich owners on the island do not want weekly rentals on the island. They got enough signatures to bring it up to city council meeting. Can a city do that to us by a simple vote. Do we have recourse?. Its my house why can't I do with it what I want as long as I do not disturb my neighbors. Will Airbnb help us with keeping our houses available to rent.

thanks

@Villa-San-Marino0

I do not have answer to many of your question.

but I can tell you that AirBNB is not doing anything to keep your house available for rent for short term stay.

I know it as my city forbid us (except for the ones directly on the ski Mountain) to rent 31 days  or less.

so I’m doing only monthly rentals

good luck
