Wow, am I going to miss you.
I've been on a hosting break this winter thanks to my schedule, but now it looks like it will be permanent.
I hosted a treehouse on Airbnb for ten years, and we just learned we have to take it down, as in down out of the tree...
An April storm snapped the most important support tree, and the conservation authority won't allow us to erect posts to shore it up, or to build a new treehouse beside it, as they decide what happens, and doesn't happen, on the riverbank. We were already walking a fine, diplomacy-charged line with them.
It's okay, though. I liked hosting. I liked our guests. I liked this forum. A lot. Before the tree snapped, I assumed I would be back to hosting if things settled down for me. But I was doing okay without it.
Some day I might list our barn loft, which we have fixed up and is pretty cool, but not right now.
I will always be a guest, hopefully a guest at your place if you accept my request. You'll have no choice if you IB 😉
Safe travels, all!
So sorry to hear that you this happened to you. My heart goes out to you. When we do the drive from Wiarton to Windsor we never miss the road sign that points to Florence!
Please stay on th CC. Hopefully, the barn loft gets up and running soon.

🌲🏡 Oh no my distant fellow host and friend, not the treehouse! And the toilet… 🚽 😭😭
I’m so sad to hear that you won’t have a listing for the time being. But glad that your schedule has been keeping you busy. Hoping you and the family are all well and one day I hope to find you have instant booked our place. For “you never never know, if you never ever go!”
@Lawrene0, who’s going to recommend a book to me to read during tough times in the world? What about those beanies, I mean toques? You have shown grace, wit and humour throughout all your conversations here and on Zoom sessions. I hope you hang around or “call in” occasionally to the CC to let us know your thoughts and ideas… until that loft takes on a new life!
I’ll miss your face and intellect. So I’m not saying goodbye, but catch you around…📮 x

Life is more interesting when it becomes a collection of chapters vs. doing the same thing mostly. I gather those ten years has given you good memories and much incite into human behavior, which though frustrating at times it is the most interesting.
Wish safe journeys wherever they take you.
Hello Lawrene,
I'm sorry to hear about the unfortunate news about your treehouse, but I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed hosting and interacting with guests. It's always tough when unforeseen circumstances arise and change our plans, but it sounds like you're handling it well.
I hope that you will be able to list your barn loft as a future hosting option once the time is right for you. And of course, you're always welcome as a guest, whether at my place or elsewhere. Safe travels to you as well, and I wish you all the best!
Regards
Olivia devid
@Lawrene0 thank you for being on the zoom meetings over the past couple of years since I have joined the gathering. Your participation with sound quiet advice when a topic of interest has risen.
Sad to hear about your tree house with its misadventure in the storm. It was always of interest as I am sure with the rules in NSW would have a ? mark. All the fun would be taken away for the dreamers.
Take care and as @Cathie19 has said please keep on popping in.
NOOOOoooooooo I'm devastated for you @Lawrene0 . I've always loved chatting to you and hearing your amazing stories of the tree house (sans axe!)
I hope Hosting is in your future again one day but I think those waterbears can keep you busy until then.
Hugs,
Steph
Oh no @Lawrene0 😭
I'm so sorry to hear that the storm caused this to your lovely treehouse. I remember all the stories you told me about kayakers stopping by when the water was high. It had such an amazing history, and it is so sad to hear that it won't be there anymore.
Hopefully, one day you'll be back again Hosting (Hoping you also still drop by on the CC from time to time) 🌻
If you ever drop by in London, please let me know!
Quincy
This makes me so sad, you have been one of the pillars of this community for as long as I can remember Lawrene........
Zoom from Sept 2020.
@Cathie19 has got the mike by the look of it......what was that Tom Jones song???
What ever you do and where ever you go, we will remember you, mate!
And yes, IB is enabled.
Cheers.........Rob
PS: Keep us informed on what you are going to do with that high tech 'dunny'!
I am looking forward to seeing your barn loft, being a host is a great thing to do in my daily life now, wish to you around here again. 10 years hosting is an incredible accomplishment.
