We unfortunately had a negative first experience as hosts. Below is the review I was going to post. My concern is the safety of my family. I am worried this person maybe harmful and retaliate? This person seemed unstable. The unit is on our property and we have children. We suspect drug use, potentially manufacturing it while using the space. Can you please give feedback to my review below?
Also, our new listing was awesome. The space was so nice. We had professional photos taken. We received 8 bookings in the first 24 hours. But because of this, we have decided we do not want to host and subject our family to possible danger and toxins (if it was meth used). How do I cancel the other reservations without cost to me? Thank you
“I don’t think Chloe actually stayed at the property. The picture looked different than the person who came.
Unfortunately the smoke alarm went off twice. They said it was from burning toast, however they were our first guests and when they left the brand new toaster was unused. They left dirty dishes, spilled food on the sheets, stains on the walls and the house has a very strong, bad odor similar to cigarette smoke, but different. I have not been able to remove the smell. They also used the shower and left water on the floor, however the bath towels were unused. Unusual behavior.”
As a (new) host you have the opportunity to accept or decline guests based on there reviews (if any !), the information provided, etc.. This task must be taken serious to prevent getting reservations from guests which will cause trouble. Instant Book is active by default on new listings, but you can turn it off to have manual control over booking requests.
If you cancel reservations, you will be penalised:

IMO a review should be about facts (not assumptions or possible explanations)
BTW
One bad experience does not mean all guests are like that.
It is nice of Airbnb to tell us that automatically book is active on new listings.
We got notified our listing went live at 8:34 pm, at 8:47pm we received a booking and email they would be there by 9pm. Also they had 3 FIVE star reviews, two of which were from very recently. It was a keypad self entry. The person we saw was not the person on the booking. The booking profile was a woman who showed up was a man. However I guess these days there are no genders anymore so I guess that doesn’t mean anything.
@Jason1833 In the future, do not accept same day bookings. I have my properties set so that a guest cannot rent less than 7 days before their arrival date, even with instant book. This means that I have time to communicate with the guest and see how suitable they are for the listing.
Your one line review is fine. To another host, it speaks volumes.
I am aware that there are tests that can be run to see if a property has meth residue. If you are concerned that that may be the case, call your local health department -- they may be able to tell you how to get the property tested.
For cigarette smoke, dog odors and cooking oil and spice odors that won't go away, I use a commercial ozone machine purchased on Amazon. Several hours of this machine running in the property leaves it smelling fresh (you do have to air out after use) and odor free. IT also has the excellent side effects of ridding your property of critters and bugs.
