I rent bedrooms in a shared home that I live. I have up to four guests at a time. The Guests don't know each other.
They are contract workers so usually working 12 hours when they come home every night, they know each other but they aren't hanging out.
Before I go to bed, I check all my exterior locks on my phone. The lock report shows all my locks, Everyone was a sleep. Three bedrooms in use last night. Nobody locked their bedroom door.
Wow
I dp have a Security Company that monitors also but my door locks are I think Schwin and are added to my phone app system I use Alarm.
I can't stress enough know who is your target market when you decide?
All markets are doable just do you want to do? Haha.
Typical hours for your guests, when I am dealing with a shared bathroom I look a typical times needed and amount of time and parking again thinking of a Guest's typical schedule.
Thank you so much for your response, that's super helpful! I'll look into Schlage locks (I think that's what you meant?) and the Alarm app system. It sounds like you have a solid setup, and I love that a security company also backs you. Peace of mind is everything, especially when sharing your home with others.
You're so right about knowing your target market. I've been thinking about what kind of guests I'd feel most comfortable hosting and how to structure things around their routines, especially with the shared bathroom and parking situation.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your insights. It means a lot as I figure out what direction to go!
Figure out what is the high traffic market for your area? You might not be your market, in Buckeye AZ where I am my first market was nuclear plant contract workers. Easy accommodations haha, which translates to number of reservations I feel comfortable effort wise to support daily.
Hawaii finding market is easy. Buckeye AZ a little more effort haha. I started just going on social media platforms and did a search. If it is popular then there i a page, group or video
On the lock name your probably right. I just used Amazon because I was focused on fitting in with my house. The best part with the electronic locks all entry doors are coded if inactive 10 minutes auto lock. I would never haha but so many people just forget to lock up.
