Hello, I do not know what to do about this situation and I do not want to take Airbnb to court, I want to continue our business relationship. I had a guest that appeared to be mixing drugs, whiskey and beer. He had a mental break down and totally trashed my property with blood and glass everywhere, including the walls, kitchen and hallway. The before and after pictures are drastic! The claims worker will not pay even $1 towards the clean up. His emails indicate he clearly sided with the guest who has lied and said he did not do the damage.

Hi @Keti73

I’m sorry this happened to you. Did your cleaner ask for additional compensation to clean up the extra mess? If so, you may be able to request reimbursement from the guest through Airbnb’s Resolution Center.

If the guest refuses to pay or doesn’t respond, you can submit an AirCover claim for the additional cleaning costs. Before filing a claim, make sure you have supporting documentation, such as a quote or invoice from a professional cleaning company, along with photos of the condition of the property before and after the cleaning. Keeping all receipts and communication with the guest will also help strengthen your claim.

I did all this and I feel the Host Damage Claim worker is not being fair to me. The damage is so bad with glass and blood, no cleaning company would do the job. I sent the claims worker a text between ma and a cleaning company showing a refusal to clean. I had to end up cleaning the job myself. 60 square meters at 8 hours. I have a heart condition, but rather than shut down my property, I cleaned it. I feel like this is modern day slavery with no compensation to clean damage so severe from a guest. Not even $1 was offered.

I have been hosting for 1 year and I just made Superhost, so I am trying not to give up on or business relationship.

Have you had any luck with reimbursement. I just had guest leave and left damages but I’m struggling to get the support page to load. How did you make out? Did you contact the guest first or did you contact someone from Airbnb. I’m unsure where to start
