I would suggest starting as a host yourself so you can build your own experience and portfolio. From a host’s perspective, it can be difficult to hire someone who has zero hands-on knowledge of hosting because managing a property involves much more than just answering inquiries or coordinating check-ins.
Once you have your own listing, you’ll learn firsthand how to communicate with guests, handle bookings and cancellations, manage cleaning and maintenance, deal with unexpected issues, understand Airbnb policies, and provide a good guest experience. That practical experience will make a big difference when you eventually offer your services to other hosts.
Even starting with one small property or helping manage a family member’s listing can give you valuable experience. Build your track record, collect positive reviews or testimonials, and document the things you’ve learned along the way. When you approach other hosts in the future, you’ll have something concrete to show them not just that you’re interested in becoming a co-host, but that you actually understand what it takes to run a successful short-term rental.
