Airbnb guest status

Airbnb guest status

Hi, I’m Imani and I’m looking for guidance and advice and assistance.  This is a very delicate matter.  I am currently hosting a female guest, very nice and respectful who is homeless and working temp jobs. She is booked for three more days and then she has no place to live. I would like to know if anyone knows what to do or how to assist her. I can allow her to stay for a few but I need the income her accommodations bring. Does anyone know if Airbnb helps with this?  Does the community know what to do in this case?  Any thoughts, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone for your advice or suggestions, it really helps me know how to proceed. I know times are difficult but I really hope to receive feedback.

Hi @Imani37 ,

First of all, thank you for showing such kindness and compassion. It speaks highly of you that you're thinking about your guest's well-being while also trying to run your Airbnb responsibly.

In my opinion, it's important to separate your role as a host from that of a social service provider. If you can afford to let her stay a little longer, that's a generous personal decision, but you shouldn't feel obligated to do so if it affects your business or future bookings.

A practical approach might be to:

  • Help her identify local homeless shelters, temporary housing programs, or community organizations that provide emergency accommodation.

  • Encourage her to contact local social services or charities that can assist with housing and employment support.

  • If she has a case worker or family members, suggest that she reach out to them as well.

Your empathy is admirable, but remember to protect your own livelihood too. I hope she finds the support she needs, and I wish you both the very best.

Best wishes,
