Hi everyone 👋
We’re almost at the end of another hosting year, and I thought it would be fun to reflect on how it’s been for you.
If you had to describe your 2025 as a host in just one word, what would it be?
Whatever your word, I’d love it if you could share it below and tell me a little about why you chose it.
I can’t wait to read your words and stories. ✨
@Alex I think the discoveries range from small things like the details that guests appreciate most to technical things like new settings, strategies, and even problem management, increasing knowledge about Airbnb and this world. I think that every year we learn more 🙂

This is a fantastic word @Catharina30 - can you share some more details about why this is the word to describe your year? 😊
Fulfilling
It’s been just a month but it is a sense of accomplishment after hosting each one of our guests.
Hi everyone 👋
If I had to describe my year as a Host in one word, it would be: “Missed.”
Not because of lack of guests — but because I’ve missed messages and booking requests due to the very quiet notification sound on the Airbnb iOS app.
Those of us who hosted before 2019 may remember that Airbnb used to have a distinct, loud custom notification sound. It was incredibly helpful — we could instantly recognize an Airbnb alert, even in noisy environments.
Today, the app uses the default iOS system sound, which is often too soft to hear. This directly affects:
• response time
• booking acceptance
• and guest experience
I truly hope Airbnb can consider bringing back a custom notification sound, or at least offer Hosts an option to choose a louder alert.
If you’ve had a similar experience, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for reading, and happy hosting! 🙏
My experience with Airbnb in 2025 has been increasingly frustrating and disappointing. The platform has undergone constant changes that have made hosting more complicated, not more efficient. Features and settings seem to change without clear communication, making the website difficult to navigate and manage consistently.
Customer support has also been a challenge. When I’ve reached out for help, communication barriers have made it difficult to resolve issues effectively, leaving me feeling unsupported as a host.
As a result, I’m now actively exploring alternative ways to list and promote my She Shed. The frequency of changes and the lack of host-focused improvements have made it unsustainable for me to continue relying on Airbnb. Unfortunately, many of the recent updates do not feel beneficial, and the overall experience has declined rather than improved.
