Amenity: Commercial Espresso Machine

Amenity: Commercial Espresso Machine

Hello -

I’m wondering if anyone here has a commercial espresso machine at a property. To keep this thread focused and contained, especially if other hosts find this with the same questions, please only reply if you have experience with a commercial machine (not consumer).

 If so:

1.  Did you intentionally choose to buy and place one as an amenity (IE it wasn’t already there or one you already had)?

2.  Do you advertise it an amenity and/or do you have a photo of it in your listing’s photos?
3.  Have you found anyone has booked BECAUSE of it and/or it swayed someone to book over another property?
4.  Is it relatively low maintenance for you? (Side question: Do you think only the guests who really know how to use one use it or do most guests try?)

Looking forward to (hopefully) receiving feedback from others’ experience.

Hello @Alex ,

The poster specifically asked for replies only from hosts with a commercial machine, and we should respect that request. You must have missed that part.

Hi @Andrew-and-Jeremy0 I think maybe the lack of replies is because you asked us not to reply unless we have experience with a commercial espresso machine (and most hosts don't). Because @Alex tagged me, I'm going to answer anyway.

I've been hosting for 12 years. I'm very much a host who tries to provide as many amenities as I can, and am always thinking of ways to improve my guests' experience.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but of course I've thought about coffee makers. I've also thought about machines - and also the hassle if they malfunction. I provide a French press.

I think in 12 years, I've had no more than three enquiries asking about coffee facilities. I doubt guests choose to book a listing based on the this.

The most dedicated coffee addict I know has a simple little tin filter thing, - the main thing for her is the quality of the ground coffee (from a unique source in Soho, London).

I would say, if you buy a commercial machine, and you expect to be booked on the basis of the machine, then you need to buy two machines to ensure immediate remedy if the machine malfunctions.

Hi @Andrew-and-Jeremy0 . Good question. If you have a Nespresso in your listing it aprox raises your booking percentage up 20-25% if not more. I ve had various guests who had to have a coffee machine in the place. When I had no machine people texted me to provide one and it d be nice to have

I do long-term always over three months and have never had a guest request one. Although I would be happy to buy it if they wanted it one in my townhouse. Rick
