GUEST REGISTRATION - MILLION DOLLAR LIABILTY POLICY
I was informed by Airbnb that a Guest must be registered by name that before they would be covered under their Million Dollar liability policy before they would be afforded it.
Though Airbnb makes this a requirement they do not seem to enforce registration by all Guest.
Is this a Catch 22 to provide an out for Airbnb if a claim has been filed?
You assume the "million dollar liability policy" is something that insures you. In practice, it's like the "security deposit".
Get your own private coverage. It can't be emphasized strongly enough. It's a legal requirement here. No insurance = no licence. No licence = you get shut down. (Note: Airbnb's "Million dollar liability policy" doesn't qualify as "insurance") .
@Elaine701is absolutely correct. Airbnb's insurance policy is meant to cover them first to protect their interest. It is indeed appropriate for you to obtain your own insurance policy to protect your interest. We have an insurance policy even though it's not legally required.
Contact your insurance agent and ask them about a commercial general liability insurance policy to cover slip and fall accidents and claims of wrongful eviction. Tell them you're renting short-term and the type of rental you're providing. They may need to do a safety inspection.
