@Kitty-and-Creek0 our weather yesterday your today was sunny and 29 degrees. Yesterday afternoon I was driving through our local rural countryside and the hills were green from all our rain and the farmers would be happy. The thought at the time was the Irish song " The green green grass of home."

So I am hoping your little patch will appreciate the rain and fill your water tanks at the same time.  Not make the road to boogy at the same time.

Are there any winter native flowers near your home and is there an outburst in springtime with the native flowers?

Hi Laurel!e ! 

The volatile weather map just changed from 1" snow today and sun tomorrow to 2" today, more tonight and more tomorrow. I concede to the unexpected larger gift of precipitation and freezing nights!  We have a full freezer and pantry so we can hole up indefinitely while it has its fun outside. Wrapped up in ponchos, sleeping under quilts. . Do enjoy our summer, we'll be thinking of you!

We have Himalayan Rhododendrons blooming in the garden, and in another month or so the gardens will be abloom with rhododendrons and azaleas, dogwoods and bulbs. The spring wildflowers will be showing off soon - so lovely! Mid March we expect the return of hummingbirds who will boss us around till they decide to leave in late fall. It keeps us out of trouble, of course!

Oh my @Kitty-and-Creek0 ! I completely forgot that horses are one of the zodiac animals 🙈 Thank you much for sharing about it! I had no idea the lunar year was going to change. I thought it was still the year of the snake 🐍.

I just looked it up and it turns out I was born in the year of the Wood Pig . I also found it interesting to read that Tigers and Pigs are zodiac friends 😍

Cookie baking is my favorite way to mark the day! My kids and I always make loads of heart shaped cookies for Valentines, and share them with our Valentine's Day guests. I love the ritual of baking with them-- and the funny designs they come up with.

I didn’t see this till now 🙂 A cozy Valentines breakfast and a scenic walk at sunset would be my preference. We exchanged some gifts on the actual day - I got him bacon spices as he loves all things bacon and some funny bacon magnets and cooked a nice breakfast (no sarcastic or funny tees this time). My boys got me a balloon (my son’s choice), some ranunculus flowers to plant and lovely handwritten cards. 💗

This sounds like such a sweet day, @Lorina14! When did your boys start joining the celebrations, is it only as they got a bit older or have you brought them along for the fun since early years?

The breakfast better have had some bacon, since your other half seems like a big fan! 😄

My partner always buys a card for my son to me (and now that he’s older he chooses the card and gift) and one from him. My son likes to participate in choosing gifts for people. Those are my boys (my partner and son) 😉

Bacon with more bacon, I got him a shirt that says it all, bacon is my favorite vegetable. Or I’ve been looking at a shirt for him that says a pig is a magical animal that transforms vegetables into bacon. One year I got him chocolate covered bacon from two different Etsy listings. He loved it!
