Guest with 'false' identity?

Hello!  I am currently hosting but puzzled by the identity of my guest.  His photo is not clear on the platform, his name is European, and his details are not what he says they are.  I did ask but didn't want to pry too much.  He is Chinese and says he lives in China but on his platform it shows he is from Oregon where he apparently he lived but not convinced.  He lists his job as a salesman in medical equipment. The mobile number listed is Spanish but he said it isn't valid. How am i supposed to contact him via WhatsApp? How come Airbnb do not seek to update personal details? Should we, as hosts, ask for identity proof when the guest arrives as they do in other parts of Europe?

As soon as they booked, you would be able to see their information. At that time, it would have been advisable to contact Airbnb with your concerns and asked for that the guest provide a clear photo and valid phone number to reach the guest in case of an emergency. You can also contact Airbnb and tell them you are not comfortable with a guest photo that is unclear (some guests use cartoon characters or images of flowers, etc.). Airbnb has cancelled stays as a last resort if the Host is not comfortable.

Since the guest is currently occupying the space, not sure what you can do now? Many Hosts do require guests to show a photo ID that matches the name on the booking upon arrival (they don't make a copy, just need to see at check-in). You would need to disclose that on the listing under Other Details and add to your Addl House Rules.
