Hello everyone,I’m a Superhost based in Tirana, Albania, man...
Hello everyone,I’m a Superhost based in Tirana, Albania, managing multiple listings with care and passion. One of them is Cit...
Someone left me a 4 star review , not so bad at all. My goal is Superhost though , and i'm very close to achieving my goal, but someone just left me a 3 star within their review for something that is entirely they're fault . Is there anything that i can do in order to have it expunged.
thank you ,
Liberty Day
@Liberty26 No there is not anything you can do to get the review removed unless it breaches Airbnb review standards which I doubt it does. I assume you are aware that only the overall review score counts toward Superhost status so the 3 star element won't damage you.
I hope not . Because despite that , i saw my overall score go from a 4.83 own to a 4.8.
@Liberty26 while I am here I should remind you that when you answer private feedback your response is public. As such you have now told future guests that your bathroom has issues! You do have a right (certainly in Europe, not sure about USA) to have your comments removed if you feel it is damaging to future guests booking with you.
no i did not know that . i don't mind sharing details with our guest , its a pretty honest community in Santa Rosa . If a maintenance crew were to have shown up during a guest stay, to fix the bathroom faucet , they would be informed by me . I keep my guests in the loop! Communication is key . I don't feel like informing my guests about prop management details is ever really "damaging " . for the most part , people appreciate honesty . Dont you agree?
I am wondering which of the 7 that have left you a review that included a 3* star in something; but first things first.
@Liberty26 If you know someone that knows photography, kidnap them and hold them hostage and please do not let them free till they turn over the film. Then if you know someone that is a writer, seek their advice on how a series of paragraphs (or pictures) can tell a story with a beginning and an end. The point is photography should be helping you, the existing one in your listing may not be doing you many favors.
Good luck.
hahahha! wow! what a breath of fresh air, humor. hahahaha! good for u! I was actually a business major in Collège , not a writer or photographer, so that wasn't my main focal point or area of study . But, now that i have you here , and before you are completely jaded by the human experience ( i hope not for my sake , but i wont hold it against you ;).. Does professional photography really make THAT big of a difference ? And when u say "tell a story " are you suggesting that i add more of a personalized Bio to my heading on Airbnb?
@Liberty26 I think that what @Fred13 means is that the photos need to take people on a journey through the property explaining (along with the text) what they get.
Lets take your first photo - Its a lantern - Why would I book your property based on this?
Your bedroom photos start with an arty photo heavily cropped of a pillow (I think) - Same question.
I know our photos are not brilliant but I hope they quickly show guests what they will be getting.....
While i appreciate your valuable input , i cant help but think "Wait , is this Airbnb customer service or a design center ?" humbly sated ... First off , i had no idea that you needed to explain through commentary under the photos, a journey . We have virtual tours for that which is what my company is currently working on - Secondly , Attention to detail is what i was aiming for , which is valued here in the Bay area . A close up Photo of something personable like a beautiful lantern , shows 1) attention to detail 2) a sense of style or feeling . Pillows , again , attention to detail & quality linens. This is not why you would book here , people typically book with us because we are located in Sonoma County. And the photos don't over-embellish like most professional photographers would do. I like transparency so there are no disappointments as to exactly what my guests are getting . Are you saying that the reason my score has so ungraciously gone from a 4.83 to a 4.8 is as a matter of fact due to "bad photography " ? Or is it because the guest decided to check in extremely late at night on the check-in date , no communication , and then blame me for his mis-fortune by giving me a 3 star on the check-in rating ? Just curious
@Liberty26 Oh dear. I didn't mean to upset you. You go with whatever photos/descriptions make you happy. Oh and this isn't Airbnb customer service. Its just a bunch of hosts trying to give good advice to others.
Oh its all good at the end of the day , its been a hectic week so far anyways Thank you for the suggestions , i was thinking of getting some new photos anyway. So Thanks for the input!
For me, @Liberty26 - and probably many other would-be guests - I'm looking for the Ronseal approach and, frankly, I'm not getting that from my very first view of your listing (and its pretty lantern).
You don't necessarily have to add text to the photos, but you do have to tell a visual story. While a virtual tour might be a top idea, Airbnb doesn't allow them (links are banished), so it's getting it right with photos, at least for now.
While attention to detail might be valued in the Bay area, I assume you want a bigger slicer of pie than having just locals stay. I think you'll find 'the sense of style and feeling' is much less important than you might think - I'll take a pic of your (ideally welcoming) front door or cosy lounge any day of the week.
Whether you choose to take feedback like this in the spirit it's given is your choice, but fellow hosts have often been there/done it.
PS. A loo photo with the lid up? No, just no.
hahah. Good point Alright , i booked a pro photographer
Good move @Liberty26.
Not a day goes by I do not tell my self about my photos - "What was I thinking?", caused by the feedback or examples shared here by fellow hosts.
Thx Fred13~ noted.
